Top Beauty Trend Of 2011: Beach Hair

We will be taking a look at some of the most popular beauty trends of 2011 during the holiday season and one of the top trend we saw all year long was beach hair. It seems that everyone wanted to get soft beach waves no matter what time of year. Here is a look at how our guest blogger suggested you get beach waves without the beach.

Beachy Hair

After seeing celebs like Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lopez and Bar Refaeli sporting tousled hairstyles on the red carpet this year, who could resist falling head-over-heels for the beachy hair trend? If you want to ace this celeb-worthy look, here are four ways to get it done right yourself.

1. Curl Your Hair
Looking like you just got a perm is not the look you want to go for when working toward tousled waves. Instead, opt for wide, loose curls. Try the YouStyle Infiniti Curling Iron from Conair ($44.99). Wrap strands of hair about 1/4” thick around the unique wand and wait at least 30 seconds. Then release your hair and move on to the next piece until you’ve curled your whole ‘do.

2. Mess It Up
Once your curls are done, mess ‘em up. The beachy hair looks means you want tousled waves, not perfect curls. Throw your head upside-down and run your hands all through you hair, especially around the scalp. Turn on the dryer and blow dry your hair upside down for a few extra minutes to secure the messiness.

3. Get Your Hair Beach-Ready

To give your hair that same sexy look you get after a day at the beach, spray Fekkai Marine Summer Hair Beach Waves. This product is a great way to give your hair the texture and style the beautiful Kate Hudson pulls off so perfectly.

4. Spray It In Place
To make sure your new beach ‘do stays in place all night long, finish off with a light spritz of TRESemmé Climate Protection Finishing Spray. This will keep your sexy tousled hairstyle in place without sacrificing the flexibility this trend demands. Who says Hollywood-approved beauty trends are hard to do?
