Makeup Affects How Honest Your Appear
It seems that how much makeup you wear not only affects how people perceive your beauty, but it also affects how competent, trustworthy and honest you appear. In a study funded by Proctor & Gamble, scientists from various universities showed participants pictures of women wearing no make-up and looking natural, professional and glamorous for different lengths of time. They were then asked to rate the different looks for competence, likability, attractiveness and trustworthiness.
The results are in. As far as quick first impressions go, large amounts of makeup appear to affect how honest you appear to others. According to a report in The Daily Mail, people reported the women wearing makeup appeared more honest when showed a quick image.
But, when participants were allowed to see the photos of the same person with different levels on makeup on, their results changed drastically. Upon comparison between no makeup and heavily made up faces, the natural women were seen as more honest and trustworthy.
So it appears that if you want to make a quick impression makeup is the way to go, but for a longer lasting intimate conversation you may want to skip the heavy handed makeup.
