Stores Getting Rid Of Fragrance Sprayers
If you are one of the many people who avoid the fragrance aisles in fear of having to run from spritzers insisting you must wear their scent, then you are in luck. Stores are deciding to cut back on fragrance sprayers meaning the assault on your nose may be over.
According to a report in the New York Times, fragrance sprayers date back to the 50’s when women started shopping for their own perfume. It was a way to get women to try a new scent. Now, the practice is little more than an annoyance, so stores are cluing in.
The report says most big department stores are getting rid of the spritzers in favour of “fragrance advisors.” These new people will ask you what types of perfumes you like and recommend different scents based on your preferences. Other stores are allowing you to browse yourself and spray only if you want or take home samples.
Of course, there will still be some stores with sprayers, but the trend is that they won’t be so aggressive. So you can return to the beauty department a little less weary.
