never thought you would hear, is being used to de- fine structured minimalis- tic glasses that have the Hollywood stamp of ap- proval. Cameron claims that “young people lean toward smaller metal frames because it’s more modern looking. ”Frames inspired by the ’70s, which take on a rounder Harry Potter-esque shape, or aviator styles, continue to be a popular playful look for both sun protec- tion and optical glasses. If tabloids are any indica- tion, these styles are also A-lister approved.
RIMLESS
Rimless frames are also an in- coming trend for this season. “Rimless is one that I think is going to be low-key that comes out of nowhere. Pretty
much every brand we carry has rimless,” says Cameron. This minimalistic style is emerg- ing in oval, square and round frames. Partially rimless frames are also extremely popular. Small tortoise shell frame tops that fade into rimless bottoms are fiercely fashionable.
ACETATE
Thin acetate frames in all shapes and sizes, bejewelled and in a multitude of colours and prints, made appearanc- es on the New York Fashion Week runways. These light- weight practical frames are favoured among more mature shoppers, according to Camer- on. Still, they aren’t the chunky goggles they used to be; the
plastic frames maintain a sense of minimalism even when covered in crystals. These clean-cut designs are being accompanied by trendy colours, prints and gems.
PASTELS
Say goodbye to flash lenses and hello to mil- lennial pinks and baby blues. Fall trends are moving away from metal lenses and toward softer colourways. The lighter hues also translate to plastic frames. Slim plas- tic frames originally pro- duced in red and black are being revamped in ultra pale pastels.
Reinvented clas- sic frames in new colours are extremely trendy this fall and great for those trying to inch their way out of their comfort zone. Aviators and cat eyes in transparent taupes, greys, pinks, citrines, and blues are a
match made in retro heaven.
