Spring Forward
global trend. i think the way a hairdresser applies colour has changed. You rarely see someone now with a full head of highlights. To me, the key in quality colour execution is in the blend,” Woolley says.
Speaking of hair colour trends, delicate shades of rose gold are expected to seize the spotlight, leav- ing last season’s harsh neons far behind. While hair chameleons once had to check either “blonde” or “brunette,” they can now incorporate a variety of in- tegrated metallic tones into their hair. Cooler, softer hues are of cially here, and this pinkish shade is set to be all the rage as a spring hair colour. “A global mainstream trend is platinum rose gold, with metal- lic nishes on hair that are blended well,” Woolley informs us.
other than a brave new colour, many of us are also looking for ways to moisturize and smooth dam- aged, winterized tresses. Woolley suggests styling your locks with Electric’s new English Rose serum, a quick drying hair oil. he has used this serum at professional photo shoots and says that it can also be combined with other products, such as a smooth- ing cream. “Seventeen per cent of that is real rose
extract. We grow those roses ourselves, in Sussex, England. You can use that wet or dry,” he says. how- ever, be careful to avoid the look of oily locks when you apply serum, as well- styled strands should sim- ply appear sleek, and never greasy.

once your makeup and hairstyle is in place, it’s time to revamp your mani- cure. Although dark, edgy ngertips were a common sight over the winter, es-
sie Canada Lead nail Artist Rita Remark is in the mood for playful this spring. “This fall/winter was very black and red. now, feel free to add more per- sonality to your manicure with teal, hot pink and the fashion Week favourite, orange,” she says.
Along with colours in every shade of the rain- bow, nail decals are back, making a return from the playground of the 1990s to the beauty counters of today. if you want to try this look, Remark recom- mends putting a contemporary spin on the nail art trend, with negative spaces and monograms. for those who prefer old school glamour, jazzing up your classic french manicure is also an option, with a punchy shade such as aqua.
Remark herself is partial to essie’s bold orange Clambake and geranium polishes, and also likes the current crop of funky nail looks on instagram. “i love mismatch manicures. instead of creating nails that are even by being identical, mismatched manicures play with a delicate balance. it's such a brilliant way to express yourself without being gar- ish,” she says, summing up the mood of the season: playful, chic, express yourself.
