e annual Canadian Screen Awards will be handed out over the course of a week of festivities in Toronto, culminating in the televised gala on March 11. e revamp of Anne of Green Gables, aptly named Anne, leads the way with 13 television nominations, with the perennial favourite Kim’s Convenience and the detective drama Cardinal not far behind with 12 each. For lm it is the generations-spanning French lm Hochelaga leads the way with 8 nominations. Canadian legends CBC News chief correspondent Peter Mansbridge, broadcast executive Karyn Pugliese and author Margaret Atwood will also be honoured throughout the week.

e Vancouver International Dance Festival kicks o on March 1st and runs until the 24th. From celebrated international artists to local dancers, there are plenty of performances to see all across the city. e diverse and dynamic group of talent can be seen in both ticketed events and free performances, which means there is something for everyone in this, the 17th year of the festival. Some of the groups include New York’s Shen Wei Dance Arts, Mexico’s Compañía de Danza Experimental de Lola Lince, and Hungary’s Ferenc Fehér as well as the West Coast premiere from Montreal’s Lucie Grégoire Danse and a world premiere from Vancouver’s own Amber Funk Barton/the response.
