November and December are big months for film. The blockbusters bring in the money, while the films that appeared at festivals make their cases for awards season. They are some of the best films of the year, and here are three you don’t want to miss.
WIDOWS
SUSPIRIA Director Luca Guadagnino got his first Oscar nomination for last year’s Call Me By Your Name, and he might get another for this remake
of the 1977 film by the same name. It stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson, and is about a young dancer from America who gets caught up in the darkness surrounding a world- renowned dance company in Germany.
WIDOWS When a movie has a cast that includes Viola Davis, Liam Neeson,
Michelle Rodriguez and Robert
Duvall, and an Oscar-winning director (10 Years A Slave’s Steve McQueen), you know it is worth seeing. This thriller focuses on the story of four women who attempt to pull
off a heist after their criminal husbands are killed during a botched job.
GREEN BOOK TIFF’s People’s Choice Award is handed
out to the most popular film at the festival, and this year’s
winner was Green Book. It tells the true story of a Jamaican-
American pianist who tours the Deep South with his driver/
bodyguard in the 1960s. The film stars Viggo Mortensen and Oscar winner Mahershala Ali.
THE KOMINSKY METHOD
From Two and a Half Men to The Big Bang Theory, Chuck Lorre is a legendary sitcom creator. His latest series is set to premiere on Netflix and stars Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin, in a story that follows an aging actor who decides to become an acting coach once his career has started to fade.

ESCAPE AT DANNEMORA
Ben Stiller directs this new miniseries based on the almost unbelievable 2015 prison break in upstate New York. It’s already starting to gain buzz not just for the story
and directing, but also for the performances by Patricia Arquette, Paul Dano and Benicio Del Toro.
