This week in the exciting world of Karl Lagerfeld, 300 fashion sketches from the 1960′s featuring early works by the Chanel designer himself are set to be auctioned off at the Palm Beach Modern Auctions. Other noteworthy pieces that are set to be included in this once in a lifetime auction are photographs, and letters from the iconic Elizabeth Taylor.

A representative from the Palm Beach Modern Auctions said of the Karl Lagerfeld archived auction that, “it contains Lagerfeld sketchbooks—some showing entire ready-to-wear lines for a season—hundreds of individual sketches by Lagerfeld and other Tiziani designers, hundreds of photos of couture shows, and several signed photos and personal notes from Elizabeth Taylor to Tiziani.”

The archived 1960′s Karl Lagerfeld sketches that are set to be auctioned off come by way of Roman couture house Tiziani, which was founded in 1963. This iconic brand which had designer Evan Richards at its helm was a favourite among many influential socialites, celebrities, and designers. Karl Lagerfeld worked at the Tiziani fashion house from 1963 to 1969, and while these sketches are iconic in their own right, we’re thinking they would make for a fascinating display at The MET.
