Spring 2013 Toronto Fashion Week Day 1: Holt Renfrew, Pink Tartan, Pavoni

Toronto Fashion Week has officially kicked off! We’re already low on sleep, but have no fear, we’ll be reporting back to you from all the best shows in the city. Here’s what we’ve seen and loved so far.

Holt Renfrew

What better way to kick off Toronto Fashion Week than with a collection of lust worthy international designers? Holt Renfrew showed us a collection of what’s in store now by designers like Prada, Alexander McQueen, Philip Lim 3.1 and our Canadian boy Brian Atwood, just to name a few. A variety of knits, outerwear, evening dresses and gorgeous accessories for fall made the collection an absolute dream closet for any style maven. Holt Renfrew is celebrating 175 years as being the go-to department store for luxe high fashion. Top models Tara Gill and Alana Zimmerman helped the brand celebrate by giving us their best walk on their home turf. The standout was a Tom Ford dress, the same one Gwyneth Paltrow stunned everyone with at the Oscars (to see it, check out the photo at the top of the page). Check out some of our favourite looks from the show above!

Pink Tartan

Pink Tartan delivered soft pinks with butterfly prints, platinum and gold brocade dresses and full skirts. The immaculate detail in the collection was clear with the amount of laser work Kimberly Newport-Mimran had done in each piece. The pretty platinum pointed toe pumps were Kimberly’s first ever shoe collaboration with Aldo shoes. The biggest moment of the show came when Charlotte Free, an American model known for her long pink hair and as being the newest face for Maybelline, opened and closed with her iconic runway walk. Pink Tartan’s previous fall collection may have been all about rich oxbloods and vibrant emeralds but for Spring 2012 we’re in store for lots of soft mints, pinks, and plenty of metallics with geometric shapes.

Pavoni closed off the opening night of World MasterCard Fashion Week perfectly with gorgeous dresses fit for a red carpet affair. A short sequined party dress opened the show and instantly received cheers from guests and editors. The gowns and cocktail dresses would be beautiful on our favourite Canadian celebrities like Carly Rae Jepsen and Nina Dobrev at any black tie event. Bridal fashion came into the spotlight with ivory gowns with crystal detail, appropriate for the modern bride who is looking for something elegant with lots of sparkle. The variety of mermaid, ball gown and cocktail silhouettes proved that Pavoni is a great designer choice for a pretty beaded frock for any fancy occasions.
