The sister design duo Chloe and Parris Gordon are no strangers to Toronto Fashion Week. In their fourth season of shows, this time the girls gave us garments with a soft gothic charm. Still in their early twenties, these budding designers have made a big splash in the Toronto fashion scene for their dark and youthful edge. Real Style Network caught up with the girls backstage after their highly anticipated Fall 2012 show at World MasterCard Fashion Week to find out the secret behind their fall collection.
Real Style Network: How would you describe this season’s collection?
Chloe Comme Parris: Beautiful Badass.
Real Style Network: What was your inspiration?
Chloe Comme Parris: We started with the delicate and relaxed silhouette from the 1920’s and then we started looking at a Russian costume designer, Erté, he has this fantastical way of drawing things, and imagination. Then we started looking at body customization and piercing movements for the hardware and styling.
Real Style Network: How would you describe the Chloe Comme Parris woman?
Chloe Comme Parris: We would describe her as the effortlessly chic tom boy. Someone who is looking for something different and dresses for themselves and is very in tune with fashion and style and doesn’t want to be a part of the trends, but creates her own sense of style.
Real Style Network: Where did you get the idea for the hair and makeup?
Chloe Comme Parris: Just by looking at the way this collection was and what would frame it very well. We had a lot of detail on the necks and on the ears, we needed something that was going to showcase that. Something that would make them look delicate, but a little roughed up as well. So we had the halo braid but it was messed up and we had a dark sophisticated burgundy lip.
We can’t wait to see what these two young ladies think up next. See images of their Fall fashion show below and buy their Spring 2012 collection on their website.
