New York Fashion Week Spring 2012: Jason Wu, Rag & Bone, and Nicole Miller

New York Fashion Week continued this weekend as the hottest designers, including Jason Wu, Rag & Bone and Nicole Miller, premiered their Spring 2012 collections on the runway. Here is a look at a few more shows from New York:

Jason Wu
For Spring, Jason Wu was inspired by graffiti artist KAWS and the designer collaborated with him to create the prints for his garments. Wu brought this graffiti artist’s work to his ladylike aesthetic. His retro looks included high waist shorts, ladylike dresses, airy chiffon-like jackets, asymmetric skirts and sheer fabrics. The retro vibe of the line had a pin up girl feel in the sexy young numbers and bright colours. There is still enough of a ladylike feel in the line to appeal to clients like Michelle Obama. Evening wear included cocktail dresses lined with peplum and feathers, deep v necks and full skirts. Watch the show here:

Rag & Bone
The designers of Rag & Bone put their own spin on festival fashion this season for a line which they call “ridiculously cool.” Rag & Bone created the sharp layers they are known for with blazers, knits and skirts. The layered looks had some sporty elements, boho chic separates and casually cool. Large tunics and ponchos were layered over pants, bikini tops peaked out from underneath mesh tanks, and all of it was very fearlessly put together. The colours included bright pops of blue, orange and yellow amidst a neutral backdrop. See the Rag & Bone fashion show highlights:

Nicole Miller
Nicole Miller took her inspiration for the Spring from the speed and adrenaline of extreme sports. This led her to use a plethora of colours in her line. The show started with patterned bright leggings and it didn’t let up for long. There were bright blouses and skirts, which were neutralized by dark garments. There were also head to toe printed looks and black and white prints for the less daring. The collection itself included everything from wearable separates of blouses, pants and shorts to bright sundresses and little cocktail dresses. Long trenches, bright messenger bags and towering platforms accessorized the looks. See her line here:
