We’ve been obsessing about Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful since way back in the summer when we saw our very first glimpses of Michelle Williams as Glinda, the Good Witch. We were thrilled to find out that the studio just released a new set of images for the highly anticipated film, along with a new trailer.
Oz: The Great and Powerful will be a prequel to the Judy Garland classic. James Franco plays Oscar Diggs, a circus magician from the Midwest who find himself in the Land of Oz where he becomes the anticipated hero who must rid Oz of evil for good. Rachel Weisz plays the Wicked Witch of the East Evanora and Mila Kunis plays Theodora, the Wicked Witch of the West. All three of the starring ladies look so beautiful in their elaborate costumes that we think Disney witches may have finally upstaged Disney princesses.
Check out the trailer above to see for yourself! We usually worry that prequels, sequels are remakes will ruin some of our favourite classic films, but in this case, we think Oz: The Great and Powerful will just reignite interest in the original Wizard of Oz. Too bad we have to wait until March 2013 to finally see the film!
