Yesterday, we told you all about how Channing Tatum was named People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” of 2012. While we definitely think People made the right choice — and we’re sure anyone who’s seen Magic Mike agrees — we don’t think Channing can rest on his sexy laurels any time soon. He’s got some serious competition out there! Not only have some of our favourite stars taken home the “Sexiest Man Alive” title in their 40s and 50s, just a small number of the stars have been able to snag the “Sexiest Man Alive” title twice in their career. No one has yet to win the award three times, but we have a feeling one of the men below might be the first ever three-time “Sexiest Man Alive” winner in the years to come. If Channing wants to score the coveted cover of the most anticipated issue of People again, he’s going to have to follow in the footsteps of these four men by staying sexy at any age… that, or he could always make Magic Mike 2, right?

Okay, so Richard Gere hasn’t technically been named the “Sexiest Man Alive” twice, but we’re going to give him credit for it anyway. In 1993, People Magazine didn’t name an official “Sexiest Man Alive.” Instead, the magazine decided to give a unique award to “The Sexiest Couple Alive.” The award went to Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere, wo pretty much defined early ’90s sexiness. Richard finally got the cover all to himself in 1999 when he was named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive at the tender age of 50.
Brad Pitt: Sexiest Man Alive 1995; Sexiest Man Alive 2000
Brad Pitt received the “Sexiest Man Alive” honour first in 1995, soon after he appeared in career-making roles in Legends of the Fall and Interview with the Vampire. We forgot how sexy Brad Pitt looks with his rugged blonde ’90s hair! In the year 2000, Brad landed his second “Sexiest Man Alive” title soon after he had tied the knot with Jennifer Aniston and received tons of critical acclaim for his work in Fight Club and Snatch.
George Clooney: Sexiest Man Alive 1997; Sexiest Man Alive 2006
We sometimes forget that one of the most famous men in the world used to be part of our TV watching schedule on Thursday nights! George Clooney landed his first “Sexiest Man Alive” cover of People Magazine in 1997 when he was still the reason we tuned into ER at 9pm on Thursdays to see him save lives as Dr. Doug Ross. When he was finally a bona fide film star, he graced the “Sexiest Man Alive” cover again in 2006. We will put our money on George winning again in the next five years too!
Johnny Depp: Sexiest Man Alive 2003; Sexiest Man Alive 2009
We always knew Johnny Depp was sexy, even in the early days of 21 Jump Street. He landed his first “Sexiest Man Alive” title in 2003 when the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was kicking off, but we would have given it to him way back in his bad boy ’90s days had we been in charge! Johnny won People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” honours again in 2009 while in his mid-40s.
