By now, you already know who walked away with a trophy and who didn’t at the 2012 Emmys, but you do you know all about what happened backstage and at one of the hottest after-parties? Fortunately, Real Style was there! From backstage at the awards show to the dance floor at the HBO after-party, we rubbed elbows with everyone from Nicole Kidman and Zooey Deschanel to Clive Owen and Steve Buscemi. Here’s a look at some of our most memorable moments at the 2012 Emmys.
We had flashbacks to their on-screen hookup when we ran into the gorgeous Julia Ormond and John Slattery from Mad Med hanging out TOGETHER in the lobby of Nokia Centre during a commercial break.
We barely recognized Lena Headey who plays the beautiful yet conniving Cersei Lannister on Game of Thrones with her jet-black hair. We’re so used to seeing her as a blonde! Thankfully, she was hanging out with her costar Michelle Fairley who plays Catelyn Stark, mother of the Winterfell clan, whose hair is as thick and auburn in person as it is on screen. Both HBO starlets were surprisingly petite in person — just barely over 5 feet tall.
Lena squealed when we told her that she would be running naked through the town on the next season of Game of Thrones.
We also saw Julianne Moore also backstage during the commercial break, right before she won her Emmy. Her red hair and freckled pale skin looked luminescent against her neon green gown. She was also much smaller than we expected.
After funny lady Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy, we saw her backstage holding her trophy. Zooey Deschanel came over to congratulate Julia on her win. She had us in stitches when she borrowed Julia’s Emmy and did a few bicep curls with it!
One of our favourite encounters of the night? The adorable Betty White! The comedy icon was genuinely happy when we told her that we are huge fans.
When the Emmys finally wrapped, we made our way out of the theatre where we ran into Girls creator and star Lena Dunham. We’ve never missed an episode of Lena’s hit HBO show, so it was awesome to talk to the creator herself. Can you believe she’s only 26?
The Emmys may have been over, but the celebrating had only just begun! We made our way over to the HBO party, which was most definitely the happening place of the night! We were greeted with more celebs than civilians, to a point where we had to ask a minor celeb who a senior celeb was!
Take our word for it: It’s a damn shame that Jack Huston from Boardwalk Empire has to wear the mask, because the other side of his face is just as handsome.
Steve Buscemi wowed us with his charm and friendliness. Ditto for Michael Stuhlbarg who plays Arnold Rothstein.
We saw a guy who very much looked like a jolly old Saint Nick and right away we knew it must be George R.R. Martin! We tried our best to convince him not to kill off John Snow. Those who have read the Game of Thrones books know that the last one ends with John Snow being killed. George listened carefully to our plea to save John Snow. If you see John survive by jumping into his wolf…. well, you heard it here first!
The thrill of the night was definitely meeting Clive Owen and seeing him meet James Gandolfini for the first time. The two actors shared a hug and a chat just a few feet away from us!
What a night! We can’t wait for next year. Until then, we have some pretty sweet memories. Check out the photos of the night:
