Canadian film and actors will be celebrated in a new way this year at The Cannes Film Festival, when actresses Sarah Gadon and Emily Hampshire will be honored with the first ever ‘Birks Canadian Diamond’ award.
The Birks Canadian Diamond award will be given on May 23rd at the first ‘Tribute to Canadian Talent’ press event at the international film festival. Both Sarah and Emily were chosen because of the impact they’ve made on film both in Canada and abroad. We have spoken to both Sarah Gadon and Emily Hampshire in the past. Sarah spoke with us at the Genie Awards, and Emily when she was promoting her Canadian independent movie ‘The Trotsky.’
Both actresses will be at the film festival to accept the award. The award itself is made to celebrate the strong Canadian presence and talent at the international Cannes Film Festival this year.
