Last night on Dancing with the Stars former Little House on the Prairie actress Melissa Gilbert was carted out on a stretcher and rushed to hospital after performing a paso doble with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The performance was her best of the series so far according to judge Bruno Tonioli, but she left the show before the end of the two hour show to be taken to the hospital.
“I’m alright,” Gilbert tweeted afterwords. “Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of.” She followed that up with two more tweets, including “@Maksim you are my champion. I adore you,” and, “@GavinDeGraw bless your heart for carrying me down those stairs!”
During the broadcast the viewers were told by host Tom Bergeron that “She injured herself, and as a precaution she’s gone to the hospital to get checked out.”
Throughout the entire series many stars have talked about how difficult the routines are, and how much weight they end up losing because of it, but this is the first time a contestant has ended up in the hospital. Perhaps this will help boost the ratings of the season, which so far has been fairly lackluster.
