The Hunger Games has helped launch the big blockbuster summer that everyone is expecting, and with The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man still on the horizon it appears as if this could be one of the biggest summers Hollywood has ever seen.
In order to keep interest up for The Amazing Spider-Man, the studios behind it have released a new trailer. This one showcasing a darker theme than previously seen, but still reflecting the “with great power comes great responsibility” credo that Spider-Man follows. Dr. Curt Connors asks Peter if he’s “Ready to play God?” which hints on the genetic manipulation that is required to create his alter ego of The Lizard. They also show Martin Sheen and Sally Field as Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Spider-Man himself is also shown beat up and injured, which is a normal state of affairs for the webslinger in the comic books.
The Amazing Spider-Man opens on July 3rd, which is just before the long weekend and which is usually one of the biggest movie going weekends of the year. Should be a fun one again this year.
