American Idol went to Denver tonight for auditions.
While 26 people made it to Hollywood week, I doubt many of them will make it far. So many of them had the judges on the fence that if they don’t really pull it together they aren’t going to go anywhere.
The laughs were few and far between and it seems like maybe American Idol put on a safe episode because they knew the masses were really just waiting for the Lost finale to start. If you didn’t watch because you were busy watching the Lost recap, you didn’t miss too much.
Victoria Beckham redeemed herself from her first seat at the judges table. She actually talked this time. She was sweet and had opinions. She did spend too much time talking about the clothes everyone was wearing, but I guess that’s what makes her Victoria Beckham. It’s not surprising that rumours were swirling that Victoria may act as stylist on American Idol for a few episodes this season.
While they let through many people, personally I found most of their voices annoying. They are a few people I will be watching to see their progress. Danelle Hayes had an great original raspy sound to her voice while singing Melissa Etheridge. Haeley Vaughn broke the mold by not doing Mary J Blige or Whitney Houston, instead dreaming to be one of the few (or possibly the first) black pop country singer. Casey James, the guy who took off his shirt for Victoria and Kara, didn’t win Simon Cowell over, but I really liked his voice.
Tomorrow is the last American Idol audition. In an episode titled “Best Of The Rest,” I have high hopes to see some of the great auditions that they left out before heading to Hollywood and meeting Ellen.
