Girls sporting a chic and timeless bob hairstyle can say happy anniversary as the bob hairstyle is now celebrating its 50th anniversary. In 1963, legendary hairstylist Vidal Sassoon created the bob haircut that is still one of the most coveted looks of today. It goes to show that a good hairstyle never goes out of style!
Today, Vidal Sassoon’s legacy remains strong at his namesake company who are still working on the iconic cut. At the time when it started, the look allowed women to look chic without hours of styling.

Now even girls who aren’t brave enough to chop off their long locks are working to get the same look with the faux bob. Real Style Magazine contributor Ben Skervin created a faux bob on Hart of Dixie star Jaime King in honour of the 50th anniversary.
To get Jamie King’s faux bob, add a mousse and heat protectant to wet hair and then flip your head upside down to blow dry it. Then use a 1.5” barrel curling iron to create spirals throughout your hair. Back comb the bottom layers to add additional volume. Gather your hair in a loose, low ponytail and tuck the tail under your hair. Secure it there with bobby pins. Finish with a hairspray.
