Most of us know that organic fruits and vegetables are in many cases, a healthier choice (over traditionally grown foods). It’s hard however, to determine which vegetables and fruits are best to buy organic.
The Environmental Working Group’s “Dirty Dozen“ annual list has been released and identifies the most pesticide-laden fruits and vegetables. The guide is used by many to determine which fruits and vegetables have the most pesticide residues and are the most important to buy organic. You can lower your pesticide intake by avoiding the 12 most contaminated fruits and vegetables.
To come up with the rankings, the group analyzed residue testing data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration. See below for the twelve most pesticide-laden fruits and vegetables.
5. Cherry Tomatoes
9. Sweet bell peppers
10. Nectarines (imported)
