Are you ready for a Canadian Christmas movie? We are! Tonight’s The Horses of McBride (Sunday on CTV at 7pm) tells the tale of two abandoned horses that were discovered starving out in the cold in eastern British Columbia and a town that rallied together to dig the horses out of the snow and to warmth, food and safety. It’s based on a true story, which means you should definitely have a box of Kleenex handy, if you’re the kind of person who’s prone to crying during Tim Horton’s commercials. Did we mention it’s executive-produced by Due South’s Paul Gross? This is the kind of Canadiana we adore, and the film stars none other than Real Style favourite, MacKenzie Porter. We caught up with the Canadian actress and singer to find out what 5 products are always in her beauty bag no matter where she’s filming or performing.
Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs
When I’m on stage in front of a large audience, the last thing I want people to be thinking is, “Wow, that girl is pale!” I am naturally very, very fair, so every time I’m on stage or even just going out with friends I use this little can of goodness. It is my best friend. It’s so fast and easy and CHEAP. I don’t use tanning beds and very rarely tan outside, so this is my quick fix. I take it everywhere I go.
I love this mascara. I only discovered it a few months ago but love how easy it is to take off. Instead of painting your lashes, it tubes them, which makes my lashes look longer and thicker. If I was stranded on a island and could only take one item of makeup, it would be Blinc Mascara.
MAC – Mineralize Skin Finish
This is one of my favorite MAC products. It adds just a slight shimmer to the skin. I use it as a highlighter, blush, and eyeshadow depending on the day. It can also be used as an overall body shimmer if you want. It’s very subtle but adds a glow!
C.O. BIGELOW Apothecaries – Ultra Mentha Lip Shine
I’m a lip gloss fiend! This one is my favorite. It’s not sticky. It’s light and let’s face it, tastes amazing. It’s not bubble gum, or cherry; it’s PEPPERMINT! It makes my lips feel cold, tingly and fresh.
Mario Badescu – Drying Lotion
This product was recommended to me on the set of Christmas in Wonderland when I was 16, and I still use it on a weekly basis. I have to wear a lot of makeup on set or when performing on stage so it’s hard to always keep my skin clear, but I swear by this product. It rids the evil devils overnight!
