Everyone loves a reason to try out a fun new nail colour, and these days movie premieres are as good of an excuse as any. Why not paint your nails a James Bond-inspired shade for this Friday’s Skyfall and switch it up with a more mysterious hue next week when Breaking Dawn: Part 2 hits theatres? With beauty companies debuting nail polish collections inspired by films, you now have a timely reason to paint your nails that dramatic colour of midnight blue or glittery gold that you’ve been dying to try.
OPI 007 Collection
To celebrate 50 years of James Bond, as well as the release of Skyfall, the 23rd film in the 007 series, OPI has released a limited edition Bond collection of nail polish. All 12 of the 007 shades are named after and inspired by a Bond movie: Casino Royale (plum); Die Another Day (bright red); GoldenEye (gold); Live & Let Die (jet black); Moonraker (metallic grey); On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (misty-green); Skyfall (maroon); Tomorrow Never Dies (intense purple); The Living Daylights (multi-hued glitter); The Spy Who Loved Me (romantic red); The World is Not Enough (silver); You Only Live Twice (magneta).
Essence Breaking Dawn: Part 2 Collection
Essence has an entire beauty line specifically for The Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn: Part 2, and we have a feeling the nail polish colours will be flying off the shelves. With names like Alice Had a Vision (deep purple), Jacob’s Protection (midnight blue), A Piece of Forever (shiny gold) and Edward’s Love (seductive black), how could we resist?
China Glaze The Hunger Games Collection
China Glaze’s The Hunger Games collection, Capitol Collection, includes 12 different colours all inspired by the districts of Panem. Although the first installment of the film came out last spring, the colours are still available, given that the series has only really just begun. Besides, after Twilight wraps for good when Breaking Dawn: Part 2 is over, we’re going to need another franchise to obsess over.
Orly Dark Shadow Collection
Designing a nail polish collection inspired by a Tim Burton movie must have been a ton of fun. Orly’s Dark Shadow collection includes Buried Alive, a brown shimmer; Grave Mistake, a dark red; Mysterious Curse, a deep purple shimmer; and Decades of Dysfunction, a pale pink. At $9 a bottle, why not channel your inner Angelique Bouchard four different but equally dramatic ways? The colours are still available since the movie was just released on DVD.
