Whether you’re a professional photographer, a fashion blogger or a social media enthusiast, Toronto has many spots that are aesthetically pleasing (not to mention Instagram-worthy). As a photographer, the key is to build a good portfolio and to know the best locations for a stunning, picturesque shoot. From museums to university campuses, Toronto is no doubt a gorgeous city with countless locations to bring your images to life. We’ve compiled a few key hotspots which are perfectly suited for fashion editorials, engagement photos, scenic outdoor shoots and even a self-indulgent selfie shoot, if you prefer!

Aga Khan Museum

Located in North York, the Aga Khan Museum is dedicated to showcasing the art of Muslim civilizations and educating people on how Muslim civilizations have contributed to history and the world.  With its unique architecture, this museum has become a popular spot for photographers, due to the minimalistic shape of the building.  In front of the museum, there is a landscaped park which can also set the stage for your photographs.

University of Toronto St. George Campus

The sprawling St. George Campus of UofT has numerous buildings all over downtown Toronto. For anyone wanting to take photos outside or indoors, Hart House, Trinity College and Knox College are the most common photo shoot locations. These particular buildings offer a romantic and nostalgic feeling, against a beautiful campus. Unlike the Aga Khan Museum (where outdoor photographs are permitted for personal, non-commercial purposes), photographers do require a permit to shoot on campus.

Toronto Music Gardens

Located right by the lake, The Toronto Music Gardens are part of Toronto’s Habourfront, and are also home to a wildflower meadow and grass steps. The parks landscape is inspired by legendary German composer Bach. Certain details of the park are inspired by a dance movement that coordinates with Bach’s music. If you’re looking for an urban looking background, you can take photos right by the water and even capture the CN Tower in some of your photos. If you want prefer a flowery background to catch the romance of summer, then the gardens could be a winning spot.

June Callwood Park

June Callwood Park is located in the Fort York neighborhood of downtown Toronto. It’s a great spot for shooting a fashion editorial, due to the pink art installation. The park also includes a hedge maze and a reflecting pool. It cost $2.6 million to design the park, which was part of an international design competition.  Named after Canadian social activist, writer, and journalist June Callwood (who died in 2007), this outdoor space is meaningful as well as pretty.
