Mark your calendars, because this December, Toronto is welcoming a pretty epic lineup of artists onto its stages. Whether you’re a fan of rock, rap or pop, you can beat the winter blues and jam out with some of the biggest names in music. Check out Real Style’s roundup of the hottest concerts to attend in Toronto this month. From iconic bands like the Barenaked Ladies to artists known for their catchy tunes like Sean Kingston, be sure to check out these performers in the coming weeks. 

Barenaked Ladies

Barenaked Ladies are hitting the Massey Hall on December 9th during their Fake Nudes Tour. This Canadian rock band is known for their light-hearted, comedic performance style, typically offering the audience with humorous banter between songs. Throughout their musical career, they have been nominated for the Grammy Awards, won multiple Juno Awards and have sold over 15 million records. The band is currently composed of bassist Jim Creeggan, guitarist Ed Robertson, guitarist and keyboardist Kevin Hearn and drummer Tyler Stewart.

iHeartRadio Jingle Ball

The annual iHeartRadio Jingle Ball festival takes place on December 9th at the Air Canada Centre. Featuring a wide variety of musical genres, this year’s festival includes performances by the Backstreet Boys, Fifth Harmony, Kelly Clarkson, Post Malone, Fergie, Cardi B, Noah Cyrus, Jessie Reyez, Ria Mae and Virginia to Vegas. It is a great way to kick off the 2017 holiday season, with a number of artists and popular bands hitting the stage to perform some of their biggest hits.

Sean Kingston

On December 10th, you can catch hip hop and rap artist, Sean Kingston at the Phoenix Concert Hall. Since he gained fame with his platinum-selling debut album back in 2008, he has collaborated with prevalent musicians, including Nicki Manj and Justin Bieber, and has also gone on tour with Beyoncé, Chris Brown and Gwen Stefani. His most popular tracks include “Beautiful Girls”, “Me Love” and “Fire Burning”.

Alexisonfire

The hardcore rock, Canadian band, Alexisonfire has four performances scheduled at the Danforth Music Hall on December 11th, 12th, 14th and 15th. Alexisonfire is often given credit for bringing punk rock styles of music mainstream, particularly in Canada. Their music is characterized by turbulent and intricate guitar melodies. The band originated in Saint Catherines, Ontario in 2001, and consists of George Pettit, Dallas Green, Wade MacNeil, Chris Steele and Jordan Hastings.

Serena Ryder

On December 21st and 22nd, Toronto-born indie rock artist, Serena Ryder, comes to the Danforth Music Hall. She achieved international stardom after her fifth album, “Harmony”, while also making it onto the Billboard charts and winning the Juno Awards multiple years in a row. She is known for her signature raspy vocals, affectionate lyrics and personable stage presence.
