Jump Into August With These New Fiction Reads

As we welcome the remaining few weeks of summer, there’s still some time to kickstart your summer reading list. Whether you’re in the mood for historical fiction or romance, try bringing intrigue into your everyday life with an invigorating new read. Whether you want to read by the lake or in your very own backyard, we’ve curated a few exciting titles to pick up now.

The Last Tudor (The Plantagenet and Tudor Novels) by Philippa Gregory, Touchstone: Taking readers back in time to the Tudor era, Philippa Gregory writes the story of Lady Jane Grey, who was imprisoned in the Tower of London. When Jane’s younger sister Katherine becomes pregnant, the focus falls to their younger half-sister, Mary, who must decide if she will create her own destiny or not. The Last Tudor is slated for release on August 8.

Y is for Yesterday (A Kinsey Millhone Novel) by Sue Grafton, Marian Wood Books/Putnam: This tale takes place in 1979, and features the story of a group of private school boys who sexually assault a classmate. The group of boys creates a tape of the crime, which is later stolen. After a brutal murder and investigation take place, the plot thickens further. The story then flash forwards to 1989, after the release of one of the boys, and introduces readers to a new and deadly twist. The book is expected to hit the shelves on August 22.

The Right Time: A Novel by Danielle Steel, Delacorte Press: In author Danielle Steel’s latest book (which is out on August 29), protagonist Alexandra Winslow is a young woman who was abandoned and later raised in a convent. Alexandra grows into a talented writer, but hides behind the pen name Alexander Green and pretends to be a man (at least on paper). However, keeping two separate lives becomes a difficult, stressful situation- and she must come to terms with her real identity.
