Top Canadian Music Festivals For Spring/Summer 2017
With summer slowly creeping upon us, the music festival circuit is soon to make its rounds yet again. Over the next few months, Canada is set to become a melting pot of music, drawing artists of all genres from all over the world. While fan favourites such as Osheaga and Veld are still a few months away, there are a number of other music festivals to keep Canadians busy. Read on for these upcoming events which just may leave you swaying to the beat this season.
Pouzza Fest, Montreal QC – May 19-21
Named after combining the words poutine and pizza, Pouzza is a punk-rock festival in Montreal. With headliners such as Lagwagon and Toronto-based band PUP, Pouzza is a celebration of the beloved mid-1970s genre. The festival will draw artists from Canada and the United States, as well as names from exotic locations such as Japan.
CBC Music Festival, Toronto ON – May 27th
Now in its fifth year, the CBC Music Festival will take place at Echo Beach in Toronto. The festival will feature an all-Canadian lineup, which includes Serena Ryder, Walk off the Earth and Scott Helman. If you’re not lucky enough to grab tickets, the festival is also set to be featured in an hour-long TV special.

Ever After Music Festival, Kitchener ON – June 2-4
Fairly new to the EDM festival scene, Ever After Music Festival is the tri-city area’s answer to Toronto’s Veld and Digital Dreams. Hosted at Bingemans in Kitchener, attendees are able to camp on the grounds as well as visit the on-site waterpark. Now in it’s third year, the festival will feature a range of electronic artists such as Bassnectar, and duo Zeds Dead, known for hits like “Speakerbox” and “Blame”. As one of the festival’s major entertainers, hip-hop artist French Montana (who has worked with the likes of Drake and The Weeknd) is also expected to headline.
Field Trip, Toronto ON – June 3-4
Celebrating five years, Field Trip is Toronto’s music and art festival. The festival aims to combine music, art, culture and food. You won’t find many Top 40 artists, but headliners include Phoenix and Feist. Hosted right in the heart of the city, the festival draws local musicians and artists to showcase their work. While many festivals are targeted to Millennials, Field Trip also invites families and sets up a day camp to ensure that it is accessible to all ages.
NXNE, Toronto ON – June 16-25
This 10-day festival is a haven for both emerging musicians and major-label headliners. North by North East aims to combine technology and the arts and features digital innovators. The music portion of the festival spans three days and the lineup headliners include Post Malone, Tyler the Creator and Passion Pit.
