With the warmer weather and sunshine emerging from behind the clouds, April is the perfect time to get out and see what Toronto has to offer. TIFF Kids International Film Festival, April 7-23
If your little one is a budding movie buff, you’re going to want to check out the TIFF Kids International Film Festival. For about two weeks, kids can enjoy films from around the world. The festival kicks off with an animated classic, Smurfs: The Lost Village, and also features young filmmakers who are in grades four to eight. The festival is perfect for those rainy April days when all you want to do is curl up and enjoy a film.

Toronto Blue Jays Homeopener, April 11th
For the past couple years, Toronto has been on a baseball high with the increasing success of the Blue Jays. The much-anticipated season kicks off on April 11th when the Blue Jays take on the Milwaukee Brewers. From now until fall, fans will fill the Rogers Centre in hopes that this is the year the Blue Jays win the World Series.
Grow Op 2017, April 19-23
The Gladstone is hosting its annual Exhibition on Urbanism, Landscape and Contemporary Art. Celebrating its fifth year, Grow Op uses art to examine the relationship between urban and wildlife. It’s an interactive exhibit that engages participants through sight, touch, sound, and taste. The exhibit features a number of unique contributors ranging from botanists to historians.
Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival, April 27-May 7th
Documentaries can be both entertaining and educational. The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival is the largest documentary festival, conference and market in North America. Each year, around 200 documentaries are featured from Canada and around the world. The festival is perfect for movie lovers who are looking to support independent filmmakers.
