For many Canadians, Easter means sweet treats, egg painting and all things bunny-themed. As Canucks prepare to welcome the warmer weather and celebrate the first long weekend of the spring with family and friends, we can expect Easter celebrations all across the country. Whether you’re based in Calgary or Toronto, there are various Easter celebrations happening. From Easter egg hunts to Sunday brunch, here’s what you can expect for seasonal festivities this upcoming weekend.

Calgary, AB – Easter Eggstravaganza (April 14-15)

Hop on down to the Calgary Zoo for the Easter Eggstravaganza. With events like a cooking demonstration for the older crowds and face painting for the kids, it’s truly a family-friendly affair. There’s cookie decorating, arts and crafts and of course, animals galore. Whether you’re an animal lover or have never visited the Calgary Zoo, the Easter Eggstravaganza is full of activities to suit your tastes.

Banff, AB – Easter at Ski Resorts (April 15-17)

If you’re more of a ski bunny, Easter in Banff may be your speed. Hit the slopes with your furry friends for an egg hunt at Sunshine Village, sweet treats at Lake Louise and Sunday Brunch at Mt. Norquay Ski Resort. You may need to bundle up, but once you’ve got all your eggs in a basket, it’ll be well worth it.

Toronto – Toronto Beaches Easter Parade (April 16)

Hosted by the Toronto Beaches Lions Club, the two-hour parade is a must-see during Easter in the city. It features floats, marching bands and the Easter bunny making a special appearance in a classic car. It’s been an annual tradition since 1966,  and draws thousands of visitors in Toronto each year.

Toronto – Casa Loma Brunch (April 16)

While Easter is a time to paint and hunt eggs, one of the best ways to enjoy eggs is at brunch. Indulge in Casa Loma’s Easter brunch before exploring the city’s famous castle. With menu items including a full charcuterie spread and seafood bar, it’s the perfect way for foodies to spend Easter weekend.

Victoria, BC – Easter Swim (April 17)

If you think Easter egg hunts are hard, try doing it while swimming underwater. The folks in Victoria challenge swimmers of all levels to find what the Easter bunny has left at the bottom of the pool. The day kicks off with a family swim, where you can warm up for the main event. This unique event just may please everyone in your family, from young newbies to the most seasoned Easter egg hunters.
