jessica-alba

We at Real Style Network love Jessica Alba’s casual style. We have chosen Jessica as our inspiration for some relaxed, daytime, casual looks that are easy to pull together. In the first image,Jessica Alba wears skinny jeans, cute flats, oversize sunglasses and a summer scarf as an accessory. In the second image, short haired Jessica channels her inner rebel in the gray leather jacket, skinny jeans and ‘military’ style boots. In both images she sports an oversize hobo bag. Here is how to get her look:

FASHION TREND: Embellished Clothing And Shoes

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Beading as a decoration on clothing is a fashion trend that is hundreds if not thousands of years old. Just one look at some of the intricate historical Native Indian clothing decorations from the last two centuries provides a clear guideline for the fashion inspired design we see today. Starting with little girl toy kits to full time fashion designers working with precious and semi precious stones, beaded and embellished clothing has come a long way from the small colorful plastic orbits that became popular in the 60’s.

The biggest evolution of THE BEAD is that in addition to adorning wrists and necks in handmade jewelry you now see beading and embellishments on purses, clothes and even shoes.

In this story, some even believe that this is the new bling and much more befitting the new chiconomics mentality. Well, the look has our vote. Fresh, new and inexpensive!

beaded-clothing

1. Dance into Spring in this lightweight beaded sundress. This Vintage Beaded Short Dress ($269. 00) is made of 100% silk and will make you feel like having a picnic or sitting on a fabulous patio. The delicate beading accentuates the bust line and gives a sparkle to the empire waist style.

2. Carry this Zoe Adams Flower Beaded Satin Clutch ($157.60) to add the wow to your evening wear. This clutch is made out of Italian silk and the beaded flowers give it something extra.

3. Try on our Twelfth Street BY Cynthia Vincent Beaded Neck Dress ($372.00) for a dazzling day or evening look. This tunic style dress can be paired with a pair of leggings for a day out or spiced up with a pair of pumps for the night.

4. Make an instant impression wearing our Satin Beaded Headband ($9.99). If you can’t decide on any big accessories this headband will give you the right sparkle for a night on the town.

5. Your feet will be the center of attention in these Steve Madden Devinne Flat Sandals ($85.49). Adorned with gold, silver and bronze beads, these little sandals take it to the next level. Perfect for the whole summer whether you are shopping at the mall or going to the beach. These beaded sandals are a great addition to your wardrobe.

6. This J. Furmani Clutch with Beaded Design ($24.00) has style and flare at a great price. The beaded design is elegant and this clutch would be perfect with any gown. For that price you can get one in any of the 6 colours it comes in.

7. Our Naughty Monkey Resurrection Heels ($74.99) in champagne will add beading to any outfit. These pumps can give flare to a little black dress or be paired with skinny jeans to made a statement. Silver and crystal beads adorn the shoe from heel to toe without being too over the top.

8. Add the beads to your jewelry collection with this Jules & Gems Seed Bead Cuff Bracelet ($12.60). These rows of beads will work perfectly as an accent to any day wear outfit that needs livening up.

9. This Alice & Olivia Beaded Tunic Dress ($485.00) is a flirty way to add some embellishment to your wardrobe. This dress with it’s silky stretch material is a celebrity favourite being seen on Jenny McCarthy and Amanda Bynes.

FASHION TREND: 2010 Stylish Travel Basics - Dress, Cardigan, Jeans, Shoes And More

Friday, January 8th, 2010

By: Editor

With Winter Holidays and Spring Breaks approaching, come the usual thoughts of what to pack for the trips. One wants to look stylish, yet comfortable, not have to worry about ironing and have clothes that are multi-purpose and multi-function.

Here are some suggestions to build your travel wardrobe around.

travel-fashion-2010

1. Dress: Choose one that can go from day to evening, preferably in a non-wrinkle fabric (not silk or linen) viscose blends are best. Black is the easiest colour to dress up or down, but a yellow or white will look the freshest for the summer season. Sheath style mini is the fashionable look right now, but ruffled florals and soft girly shapes are strong contenders, especially for the warmer months and climates. Our choice: Jessica Sheath Dress ($49.99)

2. Cardigan (cashmere or cotton): This is essential for all kinds of weather. White or black will be the most versatile and will pull the rest of your wardrobe together. Choose one with some sequins or crochet, for the most updated look for 2010. Our choice: Swarovski Crystal Cashmere Cardigan ($99.00)

3. Shoes:  Choose flat or low wedge heeled sandals for daytime walking it will keep you in style and your feet will thank you at the end of the day. Better yet, opt out for one of the multi-purpose fit flops or shoes, that will tone you while you walk. Select one pair of high-heeled wedges for the evening. Have at least one of your shoes sport some ‘jewels’ or beading, this will give you an instant fashion update. Our choice: Cece Wedge ($63.99) and Life Stride Maximus Sandal ($41.95)

4. Jeans/Shorts: Go with one pair of comfortable jeans for plane and casual wear, this is a universal staple item. The big trend has been the skinny jean. It does not suit all body shapes though. If you are pair shaped, opt out for a bootleg or even slightly flared at the bottom. As to shorts, choose a comfortable jean or cotton pair to wear with everything. Our choice: Louvely Bootcut Jeans ($126.00)

5. Black pants: Here go with a skinny pant or even a thicker cotton tight. Pair with a tank top and a cardigan, or a longer tunic with a print motif. This look easily goes from day to night look and can be dressed up or down as needed. Our choice: Low-Rise Skinny Pants ($29.50)

6. T-shirts, Tank tops: Bring multiples in cotton or cotton blends and in different colors to brighten up your look. Bring at least one for every day. For multi-function, get a cami with a bra built in. The newest t-shirts have a 70’s retro feel to them or come with ’sparkly’ embellishments. If you are feeling extra bold, choose one of the ‘sequins for daytime‘ tops. It can also do double duty for those fun evenings. Our choice: Face T-Shirt ($52.00) and Shapewear Tank with Built In Bra ($72.00)

7. Cashmere Shawl: This is a stylish, classic look and will keep you warm on the plane and on chilly evenings. It also folds up to almost nothing and can easily fit in your purse for airplane travel. This is important to consider, as you might not be able to bring carry on luggage on board shortly. Go with 2010 freshest colors, the sherbet pastels color in soft pink, mauve, gray, or turquoise. Our choice: Portolano Cashmere Shawl ($179.99)

8. Bathing suit and bathing suit cover up:  A one piece maybe more versatile for travel, but a teeny bikini will fit easier on your purse (just in case they lose your bags, you can still go swimming). Black will be the most slimming, but choose a colorful tunic style cover up in a graphic or tribal print (even with some sparkle to it). A pretty cover up can double as an evening top with a tank top or cami underneath. Our choice: Ruffle Tunic ($144.00) and Lands’ End Halter Tank Swimsuit ($59.50)

As well, look for travel clothes that perform double duty. Shirts and hats that offer sun protection, shoes that offer to ”massage” your feet while you walk, shorts with multiple hidden pockets to protect your valuables.

MICHAEL KORS: Fashion Designer Profile

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Michael KorsWell known for his woman’s shoes and bags collections, Michael Kors is the epitome of the American sportswear style.

For almost 30 years, Michael Kors has been in the forefront of fashion turning heads with his sleek, sophisticated clothing. They have stuck by their mission statement: in producing polished, sleek, sophisticated American sportswear with a jet-set attitude. Whether Aspen, Palm Beach or Capri, our mission is to bring our vision of a jet-set, luxury lifestyle to women and men around the globe.

The branded stores, which have opened in many upscale malls across North America since 2005, help to promote the brand and bring the clean lines and the versatility of the Michael Kors collections first and forefront to the public.

Real Style loves how the price ranges make it affordable to get the look. In the stores, they have gorgeous embossed python gladiator pumps, which retail for approximately $160.00 displayed near the $3,000.00 real python bag, both had almost the identical coloring of the “skin.” Very smart, because it brings the dream a little bit closer and lets us have the look for less. It also allows the shopper to start building a collection of Michael Kors pieces one at a time.

As the look is very classic, you can easily add pieces to the collection without having to start off with a whole new look each season. As a household name thanks to his seat as a judge on Project Runway, while other labels are failing due to the economy Michael Kors has flourished. He believes this is due to the fact that his clothes are “seasonless.” The pieces in the Michael Kors 2009 Resort Collection are fashionable including one-shouldered and sheath dresses, while still being wearable for the Real Style woman.

Michael Kors’ next project is a beauty line collaboration with Estee Lauder.

BLAKE LIVELY- Party Outfit

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

In time for the holiday season we thought we would take a look back at what our favourite stars wore to their parties and red carpet events this year.

Gossip Girl dominated the fashion world in 2009. Everyone needed to know what the girls were wearing and where to get it. Even off screen their fashion hits and misses were well documented.

Blake Lively has scored an A plus for fashion throughout 2009. All eyes were on Blake and her eye-catching strapless number by Michael Kors at the 2009 CFDA Fashion Awards.

Want to make this look your own? Here’s how:

max chloe - blu bijoux crystal ring2.jpgebags-croco-clutch

Skip the little black dress like Blake Lively and go for something with more color this New Years.

Our AKA New York Strapless Bow Dress ($208.60) will add a burst of colour into the winter and give you the wow factor. Hot pink has been one of the standout colour accents presented by designers such as Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs. It will carry you through the Holiday Party season and well into the summer. Strapless and one-shouldered dresses are all the latest trend in party wear.

Pair the dress with a flirty open toe Jessica Simpson Ikina Heel ($80.99). Very high heeled, platform shoes are the biggest trend in footwear this season and next. The open toe style shown here also adds the sexy peek-a-boo appeal.

Keep your jewelry simple with a Blu Bijoux Black Crystal Ring ($19.00) that has the perfect amount of sparkle for a night out. Blake ditched her clutch for the photo shoot, but every girl needs somewhere to keep her belongings so bring along this La Regale Croco Frame Clutch ($49.00) that comes in black or silver and gold for the more daring fashionista.

Christian Louboutin Flattered By Jennifer Lopez’s Song

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

In a follow up to our earlier story of just how much Jennifer Lopez likes her Christian Louboutin shoes , People reports that she contacted Christian Louboutin in January to make sure she was pronouning the name properly and that he was extremely flattered:
” At the recent opening of his Miami boutique, Fashion Week Daily asked the French designer for his take on the single: “Jennifer told me about the song back in January, and I was extremely flattered,” he said. “But of course, in America the public pronounces my name in like a million different ways. So Jennifer called me, and she was like, ‘Listen, I want to make sure that I get it right.’ And she did…from the very first time!” According Louboutin, who claims to already know the song by heart, Lopez mentions his name 45 times (“Trust me, I’ve counted!”) in the three-plus-minute dance track. “.
We’d be flattered also, talk about free publicity!
