ABC To Air Special On Jake And Vienna Split on Monday

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

ABC is airing a special two hour interview on Monday with Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi at 8pm. During the interview they discuss the accusations of infidelity and why they ran to the tabloids with their story. At times The Bachelor Host  Chris Harrison says the interview gets heated and that it ends unsatisfactorally, but it is also the first time the two have gotten together since the announcement of their split.  Hopefully at the very least the truth of the situation comes out as there has been a lot of disinformation and gossip.

ABC describes the program as “Jake and Vienna, whose recent break-up made headlines in media across the country, face each other for the first time in an emotional and dramatic dialogue with host Chris Harrison, on The Bachelorette, MONDAY, JULY 5 (8:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

For more information about this special watch the clip below, or visit ABC.com.

Heidi Montag Needed Alone Time From Spencer

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Spencer Pratt, Heidi MontagThis weekend celebrity news broke that Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were splitting up. Now, Heidi Montag is talking to the press about why she moved out of their home.

With all of her plastic surgery and then the huge fallout with her mother and celebrity news sites, Heidi Montag has had her face everywhere in the last few months. The Bachelorette Episode 2 Recap

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

the-bachelorette-ali-fedotowskyIn episode 2 of The Bachelorette there are 17 men left for Ali Fedotowsky to choose from. Her first one-on-one date is with Frank the “screenwriter,” who seems to have lost his funky eyeglasses, but not his dorky face expression. That does not stop Ali from liking him …a lot …and he gets a rose.

Then back at the ranch, we are off for a group date where some distinct likes and dislikes are starting to become very apparent amongst the guys vying for the something of The Bachelorette. Let’s just say that the weatherman Jonathan and the weird Canadian guy, Craig M, with the I’m not quite sure what I am doing here expressions and the 80’s hair, are seriously in hate. Next up was the Speedo fashion shoot in Malibu. Not our thing, but hey we are not the producers! Ty played the guitar for Ali and got the group date rose.

Then it was off to Las Vegas for Ali Fedotowsky and Jesse the contractor. They like each other and he gets a rose as well.

Meanwhile back at the ranch things continued to get nasty between the weatherman and Craig M.

Ali confronted Craig M about his behavior and questioned him as to why he was event here. Thankfully she did NOT give him a rose at the end and he got sent home! Chris H and Tyler V also went home.

American Idol Final 2: Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

american-idol-logoThis is it! Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox are ready to battle it out for the American Idol title. These two have been miles above the rest of the American Idol contestants for weeks. Who will take it though? The cute paint salesman or the hippy mom? Let’s see…

The first songs were a repeat of Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox’s favourite songs. Lee sang “The Boxer” again. It was good, but not great. He needs to be great to win American Idol. We know he has it in him. He needs to pick it up from here on out to win. Crystal Bowersox took on Janis Joplin’s “Me And Bobby McGee.” Again, it was good, but it could have been better. At least Crystal was really showing us who she would be on an album after American Idol with that song. She picked a song that perfectly suits her voice. Crystal Bowersox may be a little bit in the lead after the first song, but just barely. American Idol is still up in the air. Either could win the whole television show.

For the second round on American Idol executive producer Simon Fuller chose the songs. Lee Dewyze was given “Everybody Hurts” by R.E.M. This song was perfect for him. I wish he would have done more with it. He sounded ok, but he didn’t blow us away again. He used the choir and tried to make it big. He didn’t need it. He should have pulled back and just let it be him and his acoustic guitar. The song and his voice would be enough. Crystal Bowersox sang Alannah Miles’ “Black Velvet” like a seasoned pro. Crystal gave it her all on that stage. She hit the biggest notes she has all television season. She wants to win American Idol. With one round left to go, it’s looking like Crystal Bowersox just might do that.

Now round three… the winner’s song. This is the song we will hear on the radio after American Idol is off television. Lee Dewyze sang “Beautiful Day” by U2. He gave it his all about halfway through. It was a big song and a big effort. I think it will sound better recorded, because there were a few slip up moments on television. Crystal Bowersox sang “Up To The Mountain” with tons of emotion and soul. It was beautiful. For his final critic, Simon Cowell called it “outstanding.” It was a little slow though for a single. People will probably want to hear a song they know and not a slow song they haven’t heard on the radio.

So who is going win? It’s honestly a toss up. Crystal Bowersox has been consistently good. We know what her album is going to sound like. Lee Dewyze has grown up on this show and become an amazing performer. He is the kind of singer I want to listen to. Lee Dewyze has never been in the bottom two. Crystal Bowersox has been. She may have out sang him tonight, but he has a LOT of fans. I have no idea who will win. I hope Lee Dewyze wins. They are both worthy American Idol winners.

American Idol – Aaron Kelly Is Eliminated

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

After putting up a good reality television fight with the big boys (and girl), young Aaron Kelly was eliminated on American Idol last night.

He may not have deserved to go just yet (Casey James dodged a bullet), but for a kid Aaron Kelly had some big shoes to follow. The rest of the American Idol competitors have a lot of stage and singing experience. The final four of Lee Dewyze, Crystal Bowersox, Casey James and Michael Lynche have all played real concerts before. Some have even recorded albums. Aaron Kelly is just starting his musical journey.

Aaron Kelly will probably have a record deal within months. He can follow other Idols into the country music scene where he will do well, maybe very well. A tour with someone like Taylor Swift would be perfect for him. The girls will love him.

Next week Jamie Foxx is the mentor on the television show and the theme is Songs From The Cinema. This could go anywhere. It should be good. The contestants can finally pick something that really suits them.

American Idol Recap: Top 5 Sing Frank Sinatra

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

The American Idol contestants had a big job ahead of them on television tonight. Not only did they have to sing the classic songs of icon Frank Sinatra, but they also had Harry Connick Jr. on stage playing with them. As mentor Harry Connick Jr. not only spoke with the American Idol contestants, but arranged the songs for them. This was a huge bonus for them, but if they fall with this help it is going to look even worse.

Young Aaron Kelly started things off with “Fly Me To The Moon.” His voice sounded good and the arrangement of the song brought out the best of his voice. Regardless it didn’t feel like him. He has a country voice and it would have been nice for him to bring that to the song.

The judges were hard on Casey James. His rendition of “Blue Skies” wasn’t as bad as they said. Yes, he did seem uncomfortable up until about three-quarters of the way through, but the drama of the song suited him.  If nothing else I am glad that one of the judges finally called him out on his vibrato. It has been driving me crazy all season. Calling him a lamb might have been harsh though Kara.

Crystal Bowersox was out of her element tonight. With “Summer Wind” she sounded great when she hit the big notes. It felt like it was a part of her that we hadn’t heard yet. No one should judge her because she got dressed up and didn’t play her guitar. She sounded good and looked amazing. Next week she will be back with her regular hippy vibe.

This was big Mike’s week. He was made for these Frank Sinatra songs. Michael Lynche sang “The Way You Look Tonight” exactly how it should be sang. I expected no less. These ballads are his money spot.

I actually think Lee Dewyze might have just won American Idol after tonight. He stayed true to himself and the song while singing “That’s Life.” He had the right swagger. He had amazing vocals. He used the stage. He even smiled! He sounded fantastic. This rocker could really take it all on American Idol.

So who should be worried? Everyone except Lee. Casey James was in the bottom two last week. He needed a great performance tonight. Ladies should take one last look. This will probably be the end for him unless Aaron or Michael take the bullet for him.

Siobhan Magnus Leaves American Idol

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

This week, the American Idol top 6 gave each other a run for their money. It really became a competition when they sang the songs of Shania Twain on television. Unfortunately someone had to leave. Siobhan Magnus was sent home from American Idol last night.

On a country themed results show, Siobhan Magnus saw the end of her American Idol journey. She shouldn’t feel sad for being send home. She was a worthy competitor and an amazing singer. She blew everyone away with her huge vocals. I think her talent forced the rest of the singers to step it up. Unfortunately she showed us her best moves early. She became a one trick pony.

She will go on to do something though I am sure. She seems well suited to Broadway. She could really shine on a stage like that.

Next week, the charming Harry Connick Jr. will mentor the American Idol contestants in Frank Sinata.

American Idol Recap: Top 6 Sing Shania Twain

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

american-idol-logoIt’s country night on American Idol! The top 6 took over the television singing the songs of Canadian country singer Shania Twain on American Idol tonight. While it’s great to have a Canadian mentor, country week is never good. The singers always bomb. It doesn’t help that Simon Cowell doesn’t like country music either, so he’s always extra grumpy.

Lee Dewyze started the night off perfectly. It’s no secret that I love everything Lee sings, but tonight I was worried. He is not a country singer. He made “You’re Still The One” his own. The beginning with just the piano and his voice was beautiful. He is adorable. Maybe tonight won’t be so bad.

Michael Lynche found his money zone. He was made for ballads. He sang “It Only Hurts When I’m Breathing” with lots of emotion. We’ve known since the beginning this was where he belonged. Michael Lynche makes the ladies cry… and they love him for it. It was a little too mushy for my liking, but he did it well.

Casey James has the right tone for this type of music. He showed that by unplugging and singing “Don’t” acoustically. I haven’t been digging Casey lately, but this was fantastic. He wasn’t just playing the guitar and looking pretty for once. He was really singing and giving us his all.

It took along time, but Crystal Bowersox finally slipped up. She put her best effort towards singing “No One Needs To Know,” but I think it was the wrong song. If she was going to sing that song, she should have put a little more fun into it.

This should have been Aaron Kelly’s night. He is the only country contestant. Instead I couldn’t buy it. “You Got A Way” was way too old for him to sing at 17. Things sounded shaky until the bridge. The judges loved him, but I expected a lot more.

Finally Siobhan Magnus ended the show. Again I disagreed with the judges. They huge notes at the end of “Any Man Of Mine” were great, but the rest was bad. It reminded me of bad karaoke. She was off beat and singing funny. Don’t let the big notes distract you from the rest of her singing.

Overall this night of country was pretty good. Tomorrow is a huge toss up. It should be interesting to see who goes. Aaron Kelly and Michael Lynche are probably in trouble. They weren’t that bad, but they are the lowest of the bunch. It could go any way though.

Spencer Pratt Attacks Lauren Conrad Via Twitter

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Spencer Pratt, Heidi MontagThe final season of The Hills is starting tonight. Some people are not impressed that Lauren Conrad may return to join her old gang. Some people being mainly Spencer Pratt. Spencer took to Twitter last night launch a verbal assault on Lauren Conrad. He posted not one, but 14 tweets attacking Lauren.

Here is just a taste from the saga of tweets posted by an obviously disgruntled Spencer Pratt:

@laurenconrad is it true that you want back to the hills. Nobody cared about you the first round or second. What about your boyfriend u pay?

@laurenconrad is the reason you want back on the hills is because of fame? Not money. You have that. So is it cavallari on TV botheringU

@laurenconrad dont come back to reality tv your boring and FUGLY. Jeresy shore took any spot that you left open you on MTV moron. LC WHO?

@laurenconrad just make sure you pack no bikinis for your trip back on the hills. Still sick from photos I saw of u in a gutter 3years ago

@laurenconradwhat don’t you do a show abbot you trying to be entertaining? You can’t compete against snookie and situation ha! U are boring

@laurenconrad stop trying to get famous you haven’t been relevant since laguna beach. You need ghost writers pretend you can spell or read.

@laurenconrad sh** has to be hard when your mom looks way better and younger then you. Then again your mom has good doctor you are broken.

Wow! Maybe Spencer Pratt just has some sour grapes because they gave him the boot from The Hills for anger issues. Maybe these are are exactly the type of anger issues they were talking about. Lauren Conrad has managed to ignore all of the activity. Whatever it is, this is a great way to start off the last season.

Survivor’s Russell Hantz Arrested

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Russell Hantz is the ultimate villain on Survivor, but this reality television star might be buying into his characterization too much. Russell Hantz was arrested for assault last night in Louisiana.

TMZ reports that Russell was partying at the Festival International de Louisiane when he got into an altercation with someone. He allegedly shoved the person to the ground. Police arrested him immediately and took him to jail. He was released shortly after. Russell may be a villain on the show, but I never took him to be a bully

Since Russell Hantz is still in the running to win the million dollars on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, this will probably go to court. He is already a millionaire and could win another. What would you do if a millionaire assaulted you?

American Idol Results – Tim Urban Goes Home

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Tim Urban finally went home on American Idol last night as the finale to the Idol Gives Back television special.

I hate to be mean to poor Tim, but it’s about time he left the show. Tim Urban got lucky. He was a replacement for one contestant who was eliminated. He’s been the underdog from the start. People were cheering for the underdog to take it all, because Tim Urban stayed past his welcome.

Week after week, Tim Urban tried to improve. He had moments of greatness. Then there were the restof the performances. It’s not Tim’s fault, the other American Idol contestants are just better. Singers like Crystal Bowersox, Lee Dewyze and Casey James have years more singing and performing experience. His voice just wasn’t up to the test.

Next week Canadian singer Shania Twain is the mentor. The contestants will have to sing her songs. This should be interesting. Country music week is always a disaster. Aaron Kelly and Casey James (who were also in the bottom three) have an advantage of being able to sing country well.

Spencer Pratt Looking To Washington

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Last month Spencer Pratt was fired from The Hills. To fill his time, he decided to take up a career in cyber security protecting us. In an interview, Spencer Pratt revealed that his plan is to take this career in cyber security all the way to Washington. Spencer Pratt wants to serve his country from the very top.

In the interview Spencer Pratt explained why his frustrations got him kicked off of The Hills saying, “They kicked me off ‘The Hills’ because they say I’m too angry, but really I was just angry that I was doing nothing on ‘The Hills’ and doing nothing to contribute to our free and open society of America”

His next goal in getting to the CIA (or even god forbid The White House). Spencer’s master plan is to create a reality television show based on cyber crime. Spencer Pratt wants to start a show called “Cyber Spies” that is a reality version of 24. While it’s great to have ambition, will another reality television show really spruce up your resume for the American government?

For now though Pratt and Heidi Montag are going to be taking a trip to Costa Rica for a few month. Spencer says he’ll be spending the free time reading up on national security.

Apparently Spencer has a degree in political science, so I guess that is a bit of a reassurance. I just keep imagining the world with First Lady Heidi Montag though.

American Idol’s Top 7 Perform Inspirational Songs

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

american-idol-logoTonight in the spirit of tomorrow’s Idol Gives Back special the contestants sang inspirational songs. While they weren’t necessarily very inspirational there were some good performances. The quality of singers left on the television show should make it interesting to see who goes home.

Casey James started the night of singing with Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Stop.” Sure he sounded good. It’s the same old song and dance from Casey week after week. This was a bar performance. His guitar playing was more interesting than his singing. This isn’t going to get him to the finale. He may be in trouble this week because of it.

Next up was Lee Dewyze. I think I fell in love with Lee all over again tonight. His version of “The Boxer” was so amazing. It suited his voice perfectly. It was full of emotion. You could see how much he felt each word. He was practically crying when the judges told him how great he was. His modesty only makes each performance that much better.

We fell off the boat with the next few performances. Tim Urban sang “Better Days” by The Goo Goo Dolls well, but not great. With so few people left, his shortcomings are obvious. This very well could be his final week.

Aaron Kelly also didn’t live up to standards. He aimed high with R Kelly’s “I Believe,” but fell short. That said he did a great job trying. It was a valiant effort. Siobhan Magnus aimed even higher with “When You Believe.” She has a big voice, but it wasn’t big enough. The song felt choppy. The end was great, but it took too long to get to the good stuff.

The judges didn’t like Michael Lynche’s version of “Hero.” I actually think he did a great job at making this Chad Kroeger song his own. It was original. He took a big risk. It paid off. Last time I disagreed with the judges though, Michael almost went home. I hope this isn’t his time.

Crystal Bowersox ended the night with a huge bang. She said she loved singing “People Get Ready,” but no one could expect the amount of emotion she sang it with. She didn’t use any instruments this time and gave a heartfelt performance. It had the perfect gospel vibe for her voice. When she broke down in tears at the end of the song it was the grand finale. Crystal may have just won the whole television show with that song.

Tomorrow is Idol Gives Back. The television show has been known to not send anyone home on Idol Gives Back nights. If someone does go home, it should be Tim Urban. His time has come and gone. He’s got a lot of fans though somewhere, so Casey James, Aaron Kelly or Michael Lynche could take the bullet for him.

Andrew Garcia And Katie Stevens Leave American Idol

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

american-idol-logoIn a fairly predictable elimination episode, Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens said their goodbyes.

Andrew Garcia was an early favourite for everyone. Right from his audition, it was clear he was going to go far. Once he got on the stage something happened. He didn’t know his voice enough to know what songs he should sing. He has some really beautiful parts to his voice that he never used. Instead he did this weird talk singing thing week after week that got him almost constant negativity from the judges. He will probably go on to make his own album, which will be a million times better than his performances on American Idol. He needs more of a mentor than this television show can provide him.

Katie Stevens was the second one out. It looked like even she knew she was leaving. Stuck up there with Michael Lynche, Katie knew her performance wasn’t up to par when it came down to it. Katie Stevens does have an amazing voice. She has years ahead of her to grow and get better. Her performance was cute and sassy this week, but not enough to be an American Idol winner. If she is lucky, we will be seeing her again.

Next week is Idol Gives Back. Alicia Keys is mentoring the group on singing inspirational songs. Ususally on Idol Gives Back night American Idol spares the contestants and doesn’t send anyone home. With a double elimination last night that is looking even more possible. Although I don’t know if I can sit through another double elimination. The singing pool is getting smaller and one of my favourites will be heading home if they send home two. We will have to tune into our television’s next week to see.
