Get your dancing shoes ready, because ABC has announced that Brooke Burke is the new co-host of Dancing With The Stars.
Brooke wrote on her Modern Mom website: “Today is one of the most exciting days ever!!! With the exception of my family and children, today tops the list of all my professional endeavors!!! I was sworn to secrecy until the GMA announcement and the ABC press release went out. So now that it’s public… I am thrilled beyond words to have landed the Co-Host gig for Dancing with The Stars!”
Since the cast was announced last week, we have been patiently waiting for the new on the host. The competition for the new host was fierce. We told you about all of the possible contenders here including Spice Girl Mel B and Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell. Brooke Burke beat them out. It helps that Brooke is already familiar with the Dancing With The Stars set and staff. She did win the show in 2008 after all.
Brooke will star her new job alongside co-host Tom Bergeron on Dancing With the Stars on March 22nd.

If you are going through Olympic withdrawal, ABC has a new figure skating reality show coming up to fill the void. Thin Ice will air on ABC on March 19th and 21st letting viewers vote on their favourite skaters.
Much like the CBC show Battle Of The Blades, Thin Ice has figure skating pairs compete for $220,000. The difference is Thin Ice is pairing up top figure skaters from around the world that have never skated together. On the first night the judges Kristi Yamuguchi, Katarina Witt, and Dick Button will have their say and then viewers will get to vote. On Sunday, the live audience will get the final say.
The figure skating pairs are Switzerland’s Stéphane Lambiel & Japan’s Shizuka Arakawa, Canada’s David Pelletier & Russia’s Elena Berezhnaya, Canada’s Patrice Lauzon & Canada’s Jamie Salé, America’s John Zimmerman & Canada’s Shae-Lynn Bourne, and America’s Michael Weiss & Canada’s Marie-France Dubreuil.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Canadian figure skating champ Kurt Browning will host.
While the show could be entertaining, the big draw is the announcement of a special appearance by Canadian bronze medalist Joannie Rochette. Joannie will skate a tribute to her mother on March 19th. She already brought the country to tears with her Olympic performance. Everyone will be glued to their television to see what she will do here.
Jamie Sale beat Shae-Lynn Bourne to win Battle Of The Blades. Can she make it two for two?

The top 10 girls took to the stage to fight for a spot tonight. Many of the girls are probably in trouble tonight because others were so fantastic.
Crystal Bowersox recovered from her hospital scare yesterday to open the show. Her performance of Creedance Clearwater’s “As Long As I See The Light” showed off her natural, honest talent. She is the kind of girl you want to see in a bar with her guitar.
I disagreed with the judges a lot tonight. They seemed pretty harsh on some of the better performances.
While the judges didn’t like Katie Stevens’ version of “Put Your Records On,” it really showed off how mature her voice is for 17-years-old. Michelle Delamor showed what the judges have been asking for. She changed up Creed’s “With Arms Wide Open” to match her voice, but some of the judges didn’t like it. Katelynn Epperly did a great piano performance of Coldplay’s “The Scientist.” She was captivating, but the judges found her boring.
Lilly Brown got rave reviews from the judges, but I really didn’t get it. She has a cool indie vibe, but something about it just didn’t register with me.
Haeley Vaughn, Lacey Brown, Didi Benami and Paige Miles should be concerned this week. Haeley Vaughn and Didi blew it. They just didn’t sound good at all. Lacey Brown and Paige Miles sounded fine, but just aren’t memorable at all. I actually forgot who Paige Miles was. Being unmemorable is sometimes worse than being bad.
Siobhan Magnus totally blew everyone away when she closed the night with Aretha Franklin’s “Think.” She hit notes the rest of the girls only dream about. Who knew she could do something like that? Everyone is going to be talking about her tomorrow.

In a last minute change, the top 10 guys performed tonight on American Idol. While there were still slip ups, the guys improved a lot over last week.
Michael Lynche started things off with a good performance of James Brown’s “This Is A Man’s World.” While someone else could have made this a boring song, Michael’s personality shined through again. This is the kind of guy that you want to win because he’s just a nice guy.
John Park and Casey James followed up with ok performances, but nothing special. John may be in trouble for being forgettable two weeks in a row. Even now, minutes after the show I forgot that he sang John Mayer. At least Casey played a mean guitar to make up for it.
I dreaded Alex Lambert after his awkwardness last week, but this little singer improved a million times over. I could hear that he really did have a good voice. If he keeps improving at this rate he could be amazing. Poor Tim Urban probably won’t make it through another week. He also improved on last week, but it wasn’t nearly as good as the others. He has too far to go and is being overshadowed.
Todrick Hall and Jermaine Sellers both bombed their performances for a second week in a row. These guys just don’t seem to be up to the challenge. Compared to some of the other guys they are completely out of their league. They are good singers sometimes, but they need too much guidance to stay that way. They have good personalities, which could save them.
For the first time, Andrew Garcia didn’t amaze me. His version of James’ Morrison’s “You Give Me Something” wasn’t believable. His voice didn’t sound good. He looked uncomfortable. I am still rooting for him, but he needs to get back in the groove.
Youngster Aaron Kelly on the other hand is definitely in the groove. While he is not my style, his version of “My Girl” was great. His voice adds unique country flair to Idol. He probably has every mom in America voting for him right now.
Lee Dewyze closed American Idol and showed everyone else how it’s done. Singing Hinder’s “Lips Of An Angel,” he was great! His raspy voice is so cool. Even though he was nervous he had a good presence. He is the kind of singer I want to hear on the radio and want to see in concert. We just may have a new favourite on our hands here.

In an emotional finale to this season of The Bachelor, Jake Pavelka chose Vienna Girardi. In all fairness, this news has been leaked in the blogs some time ago. It was just so hard to believe that he would pick her. Vienna was by far one of the more unpopular women on the show and much disliked by the other women in the house. Well as the saying goes, all is fair in love and war.
After the final rose show revealed that the couple is very , very happy and Jake is super sure of his choice. He said about Vienna “She is my baby. I’ve never had so much heat in a relationship. She is also the kindest, sweetest woman”. We hope things work out for them.
Also the much anticipated, next Bachelorette has been named and she is none other than Vienna’s arch nemesis on the show, Ali Fedotowsky. According to Chris Harrison, America fell in love with Ali and she became the fan favorite. We thought that Jake and Ali would have made a great pair, but what do we know.
So good luck to Ali on The Bachelorette and next week is Jason and Molly’s wedding. Yawn, that story seems kind of done… but we are sure it will be lavish.

Last night America said farewell to four Idol hopefuls.
For the girls, we lost Janell Wheeler and Ashley Rodriguez. I can’t say I’m surprised. I had to go back and look at our recap to even remember what they sang. Ashley Rodriguez did show promise when we first saw her. If she had of stepped out of her comfort zone, she could have been great. Janell Wheeler doomed herself by choosing a song that she just couldn’t sing properly.
For the guys, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady said goodbye. While many are probably crying foul for these, it makes sense. While Joe Munoz performed well, it wasn’t memorable. He also suffered from not being shown as much as some of the other contestants during auditions and Hollywood week. Feeling like you know the contestant is half of the battle. On the other hand, Tyler Grady was shown a lot. His 70’s rocker shtick was fun once or twice, but America had seen enough. How many weeks could we have watched him pose and be compared to Jim Morrison? He will return to his rock band and be fine.
That said there were some other guys who messed up their singing far worse than these two, so they are very lucky.

Yu-na Kim from South Korea and Mao Asada from Japan very deservingly took first and second place respectively in the womens free skate competion at the Vancouver Olympic games tonight.
Yet, the winner of the hearts and minds of all Canadians was Joannie Rochette, who skated a performance of a true Olympian to capture the bronze medal and the standing ovation of the audience in the womens free skate competition. Having lost her mother just a few days ago, her story of bravery and perseverance in the face of such a tragedy showed a remarkable spirit and has touched people the world over. A girl who no one expected to skate. Did and Won! Joannie’s win is Canada’s only second Olympic medal in the womens figure skating competition since 1988, when Elizabeth Manley took the silver.
The commentators were speaking over, but we did manage to overhear in French , Joannie mentioning her mom in her speech to the camera. Joannnie Rochette from Ille Dupas, Quebec, you can be sure your mom was with you tonight and she is as proud of you as the rest of Canada. We told you previously here, about Joannie’s statement to the press.

If you missed the Top 12 guys perform on American Idol because you were busy watching the Canada-Russia hockey game, Real Style has got you covered.
Unlike last night’s girls, most of the guys were memorable. That doesn’t mean they were all good though. There were highs and lows on American Idol.
Let’s start with the good news. The guys showed a lot of creativity tonight. Things started off with Todrick Hall singing a barely recognizable version of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since You’ve Been Gone.” It wasn’t the best vocally, but it was interesting. Lee Dewyze proved that the rockers rule with his version of Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars.” Andrew Garcia ended the night off with a good acoustic version of “Sugar We’re Going Down” by Fall Out Boy. The judges may not have liked it, but I love his vision.
Casey James and Michael Lynche stuck closer to the original version of their songs, but proved that their talent was all they needed.
While those singers were shining, others didn’t have such luck. Jermaine Sellers and Tim Urban picked terrible song choices for their performances. Neither of them could hit the notes they needed to succeed. Regardless of how good they looked while doing it, I think these two should be the most worried tonight. They were hard to listen to.
Tyler Grady’s 70’s rock vibe is getting tiring after his performance of “American Woman.” Alex Lambert looked so uncomfortable bobbing up and down while singing James Morrison. His nerves are understandable, but it was awkward.
Other singers Aaron Kelly, Joe Munoz and John Park will probably squeak by because their performances were just enough to make it.
Tomorrow night is the results show where we see what is grabbing America’s attention tonight. I hope they don’t let me down.

We made it to the first live episode of American Idol. It’s been a long journey. For their first real performance, the girls of American Idol didn’t live up to all of the hype they have been getting.
Most of the girls chose the wrong song. The problem is that makes them forgettable. Paige Miles, Ashley Rodriguez, Katelyn Epperly and Didi Benami were all ok, but I’m not going to remember their performance five minutes from now.
There were high points in the show. Lilly Scott sang The Beatles’ “Fixing A Hole” like it was her own song. Her voice is so unique and different. She is not really American Idol material. She may fail when they force her to sing something from a current pop artist.
Michelle Delamor did a safe version of Alicia Keys’ “Falling,” but she proved that she had a big voice. Siobhan Magnus was surprisingly great singing”Wicked Game” by Chris Issak. It was a totally unexpected song choice for this show. She could be one to watch out for.
Crystal Bowersox and Katie Stevens have been personal favourites since they first auditioned. Both of them were strong, but safe. It’s still the first episode. They have time to grow.
There were some low points too. Janell Wheeler could not live up to the pressure of singing Heart’s “What About Love?” Her voice isn’t big enough for the song and sounded shaky. Haeley Vaughn showed promise in the auditions, but she just sounded bad singing The Beatles’ “I Want To Hold Your Hand.” She’s so sweet. I can’t count her out yet. Lacey Brown finally made it to the top 24 and then blew it. Her version of “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac was not good. She seemed surprised, but the song just didn’t suit her voice.
Tomorrow the guys are up for their first live performance. They don’t have the excuse of being first, so the pressure is on.

On ‘The Women Tell All Episode’ of the Bachelor, almost everyone and everything was unremarkable, EXCEPT the show down with Rozlyn Papa and Chris Harrison. As you might recall she was the one who got booted for having an ‘inappropriate relationship’ with one of the Bachelor’s show producers. The producer also got fired.
After the usual niceties and self deprecating jokes and apologies for any catty behaviour from the women who were rejected, came the interview with Rozlyn Papa and Chris Harrison. Before Rozlyn came out to speak her peace, some of the women : Ella, Gia and Jessie told the tv viewers and the studio audience about their eye witness accounts of Rozlyn cuddling and making out with the Bachelor producer and not being in her room at night. When Rozlyn Papa came in, Chris Harrison told her that this was her opportunity to tell her side of the story.
She didn’t. In fact all she did was DENY, DENY, DENY anything but a friendship. Rozlyn also tried to distract the audience with tales of how she wasn’t able to call her son, so she used the producer’s phone . And how if there were cameras everywhere so then how come they didnt have concrete evidence of all her sneaking around. To which the answer was, the night show producer ( the one who got fired) would have known which cameras were on or off at night and that the cameras and microphones are not on all the time. She also managed to accuse Chris Harrison of hitting on said producer’s wife during a trip to New Zealand to which Chris responded that he is not going to honour that with an answer. Anything just to detract the viewers from the actual issue at hand.
Finally one of the women said, that Rozlyn claiming that she couldn’t call her son had nothing to do with the fact that she did have this innapropriate relationship. Gia spoke up and said” All you had to do was admit that you loved this man and everyone would have understood”.
Rozlyn Papa didn’t do that. Instead she pretty much implied that all the women who had witnessed her indiscretions were liars or just being silly.
In the end Chris Harrison said ” I hope this experience will make you a better person Rozlyn”. He is right.
Oh yeah, Jake Pavelka who? Too bad he let Ali go.

If you were as confused as to the last minute addition of Tim Urban in the American Idol top 24 as we were, then fear not because Real Style has searched all celebrity blogs to find out what happened.
Early reports stated that Chris Golightly, the singer who had lived his life in multiple foster care homes, was originally scheduled to be in the Top 24. American Idol stated that he was eliminated for undisclosed reasons.
What was the reason? It seems Chris Golightly was contracted to be in a boy band. Star Magazine reports that Chris believed his contract had expired. The record label set the singer straight once he had made it into the Top 24. Chris Golightly was still under contract. They were trying to free Chris up in time for the show, but they apparently couldn’t.
American Idol believed that Chris Golightly knew about the contract and mislead them causing his elimination. Now Tim Urban will take his spot in the American Idol Top 24.
This doesn’t seem fair to a kid of his age, but rules are rules. There are many singers hoping to get their shot at American Idol.

American Idol is finally down to the Top 24. Next week the real competition starts. The singers have to win over the public now.
American Idol split their reveal into two nights, so we already knew seven of the Top 24 from last night. Tonight we found out the remaining 17.
Here are your Top 24 potential American Idols: Michael Lynche, Didi Benami, Katelynn Epperly, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Lee Dewyze, Todrick Hall, Janell Wheeler, Tyler Grady, Lacey Brown, Ashley Rodriguez, Alex Lambert, Joe Munoz, Crystal Bowersox, Katie Stevens, Lilly Scott, Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus, Michelle Delamore, Jermaine Sellers, John Park, Hayley Vaughn, Andrew Garcia and Tim Urban.
For the first time in ages, I think the American Idol judges made all of the right decisions. The only person who I wish could have gone on was Angela Martin. Angela Martin made it to Hollywood week twice before, so it would have been a good comeback story for her. This show isn’t about nice stories though; it’s about singing as Simon Cowell would say.
Rumour has it that Michael Lynche was kicked off of the show because his dad broke the confidentiality clause and revealed that his son had made it. We will have to wait to see if he is there next week.
Next week we will see the girls perform on Tuesday and the boys on Wednesday. Stay tuned for all of the fun!

If you were watching the first Olympics game for the Canadian Men’s Hockey team and missed this two hour American Idol… don’t worry you didn’t miss much.
The entire first hour of American Idol was dedicated to the dreaded three rooms. Instead of stretching this out for all it’s worth, I wish American Idol would cut this into a 15 minute segment. The contestants were split into three separate rooms. We all knew that two of the rooms would go through, while one would be sent packing. It was clear that room one would make it. Contestants who had been consistently good, like Crystal Bowersox, Casey James and Andrew Garcia, were all in that room. Room two was questionable. Mary Powers, Charity Vance and Hope Johnson, who have been up and down throughout, were in there. Room three held some good and some bad. It was room two that had to go. I breathed a sigh of relief knowing my favourites were safe.
American Idol got to the real meat of the show after that first hour was over. We were finally going to see who would be moving on to the top 24. Who will you be able to vote for? In a mean American Idol trick, they didn’t actually reveal who would be moving on. We only got a snippet of the contestants.
Real Style can reveal to you the first seven of the American Idol top 24, but that is all we saw tonight. In one hour, they only revealed seven people who were moving on! They are Michael Lynche, Didi Benami, Katelynn Epperly, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Lee Dewyze and Todrick Hall. Most of those are no big surprise. Michael Lynche, Didi Benami and Casey James have been solid throughout the show. Aaron Kelly is the one wild card. He forgot his lyrics on day three, but pulled it together enough to impress the judges.
The rest of the top 24 will be revealed tomorrow night. How could you do this to us American Idol? This two hour episode was all just a tease. Stay tuned tomorrow for the American Idol Top 24. Will your favourite make it through?

Jon Gosselin & TLC Settle Their Differences
Thursday, February 18th, 2010Jon Gosselin settled his lawsuit with TLC yesterday out of court. Both parties were suing each other, but the pair came to an agreement. The terms are not being released.
Back in October, TLC sued Jon Gosselin for breach of contract when he made public appearances everywhere that would take him. TLC felt it violated their contract and looked bad according to People Magazine. Meanwhile Jon Gosselin counter-sued the television network for damaging his reputation.
Both suits have now been dropped. RadarOnline reports that Jon Gosselin couldn’t afford the expensive lawyer fees it would cost him to go through trial.
They also say that Jon has agreed to let TLC resume filming his children. Does this mean a return of Jon & Kate Plus 8? We will have to see. TLC previously talked about filming Kate Plus 8, so this show could be back on. This could be the return of daily news about the Gosselin’s since they have dropped off the radar recently. Let’s hope not.
