Erin Andrews Suing Hotel For Peephole Videos

Friday, July 16th, 2010

ESPN reported and Dancing With The Stars contestant Erin Andrews has had a rough go of it these last few months. First she gets a stalker, who seriously threatens her, he finally goes away and now she finds out that a hotel was giving her stalker easy access to her.

Celebrity blog TMZ broke the news that Erin Andrews is now suing a chain of hotels who let Michael David Barrett (her stalker) stay in the room next door to her in Chicago. If that wasn’t bad enough apparently they allowed him to create peephole video of Erin by filming through the hotel room door. Rumour has it he uploaded the peephole video of Erin Andrews to the Internet, but we aren’t going to search to find out if it’s true. If that’s not enough to make you want to stay home every night then I don’t know what is!

Erin Andrews is suing the hotels for $1.2 million for negligence.  While suing the whole hotel chain for millions may be over the top, the employee who gave out her room number should probably start looking for a new job.

Sandra Bullock Adopts Baby Boy

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

people-sandra-bullock-baby-coverWow! This is a shocker we did not see coming! While everyone was so concerned with what was happening in her divorce, Sandra Bullock has adopted a baby boy.

Sandra Bullock is now the mother of Louis Bardo Bullock, a 3½-month-old boy from New Orleans. People revealed the first photos of Sandra and her new baby this week.

According to the story, Sandra Bullock and Jesse James filed for adoption four years ago. The celebrity couple brought the baby home in January, but had kept it a secret until now. Now Sandra Bullock is finalized the adoption as a single parent. It is amazing that with all of this publicity and paparazzi, Sandra Bullock has been able to keep her baby a secret. I don’t think anyone suspected until right now.

This changes a lot about Jesse James behaviour. He will not get to raise this baby now that his cheating actions have come to light. It makes you wonder what he was thinking.

We expect to see a lot more photos of Sandra and her baby now that the truth has come out. We hope Sandra Bullock can shield her new baby from all of the drama in her life. We think she’s going to be a great mom.

Naomi Campbell Snaps At Interviewer

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Rumours have been circulating this week that supermodel Naomi Campbell received a blood diamond from former African despot Charles Taylor. Naomi is denying the accusation, but that isn’t stopping the world from talking about it. Naomi Campbell does NOT want to talk about it. When an ABC interviewer pushed her on the topic Naomi lost it on the cameraman.

As soon as Naomi was asked about the diamond, she said she wasn’t there to talk about that. She ignored repeated questions about the event. Finally she just thanks the interviewer and gets up. Right when you think Naomi is going to be cool and not lose her temper, she shoves the cameraman. There was no reason for her to do it. She just had to get one shot in.

Naomi Campbell has a history of losing her temper, so in the grand scheme of things this little shove isn’t so bad. It was still unnecessary though. The cameraman had nothing to do with it.

Check out the video of Naomi’s interview here:

Conan sang his own version of “I Will Survive” last night dedicated to NBC and his battle for late night television.

Oprah Winfrey Biography Coming Soon

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Oprah WinfreyA new unauthorized celebrity biography of Oprah Winfrey will be in stores this week revealing all of the juicy details of her life.

Author Kitty Kelley, who has written biographies on the Bush family and the British Royals, dug deep to try to find the truth behind the queen of daytime television. While Oprah herself would not do interviews for the book, Kitty Kelley interviewed Oprah Winfrey’s friends, family and employees. Kelley also sourced thousand of interviews Oprah has given over the years.

Kelley dug into Oprah’s personal life trying to confirm (or disprove) rumours that Oprah is a lesbian. She says that through her research, she found nothing to prove the rumours are true.

She also interviewed Oprah’s family about the sexual abuse in her past and the identity of Oprah’s true father (which she isn’t revealing in the book because even Oprah doesn’t know). She says she has learned just how secretive and private Oprah Winfrey is now.

Some critics think Kitty Kelley’s books are just loose versions of the truth. You will have to pick up the book to judge for yourself.

Hot Spring and Summer Movie Releases

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

By: Movie Critic-guest contributor

iron_man_2_poster

It begins.  Or soon it does anyway.  As terrible as the movies released in January and February are, they at least give us something to look forward to as we are inundated with previews for the hot spring and summer blockbusters.  Which movies are you looking forward to?  My list of top ten movies to be released in the next few weeks follows below.  A fair warning to the ladies out there, you won’t find The Twilight Saga: Eclipse or Sex in the City 2 on this list.

Iron Man 2 – May 7th.  I’ve been looking forward to this movie since the first one came out in 2008.  Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow are joined this time around by Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, and Don Cheadle.

Inception – July 16th.  Never heard of this movie?  I’m not surprised.  I’ve included the preview for this one because simply put I think it will be a huge blockbuster before the summer is finished.  Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) brings you a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page.  DiCaprio plays a dream thief who is on the run after being blamed for his wife’s death.

A Nightmare on Elm Street – April 30th.  As a kid I loved these movies, and I’m very curious to see what they’ve done with this reimagining of my favourite childhood boogeyman.

Robin Hood – May 14th.  Russell Crowe as Robin Hood?  Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian?  Ridley Scott directing?  Count me in.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time – May 28th.  This movie based on a video game starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Ben Kingsley is probably going to be the worst movie on this list. At the very least the previews make this movie about a prince who teams up with a rival princess to save the world look great.

Shrek Forever After – May 21st.  Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz are lending their voices once more to the continuing adventures of the lovable Ogre, his wife, and friends.  And why not, none of these actors seem to be in any other movie that is even remotely good these days.

The Expendables – August 13th.  Let me see, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Randy Couture, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, and Arnold Schwarzenegger all in one action movie?  Count me in!

Kick-Ass April 16th.  The previews for this movie about a comic book fan who decides to become a super hero look, wait for it, Kick-Ass.

Knight and Day – June 25th.  Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz star in this action comedy about a fugitive couple on a deadly adventure.  Say what you will about Tom Cruise, but I’ve tended to like his movies, and by the looks of the preview I’ll probably enjoy this movie as well.

Toy Story 3 – June 18th.  Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return to voice Woody and Buzz after 11 years.  Do people still want to see their adventures?  With it being released in 3-D, I’m guessing yes.

Tiger Woods Gets Applause On The Course

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

tigerwoodsThe tournament hasn’t even started yet, but Tiger Woods’ fans are already cheering him on.

Tiger Woods is at Augusta Country Club preparing for his return to the Masters in a few days and the fans are there with him. Reports say crowds three deep were cheering on Tiger as he walked down the fairway this morning.

While many people, including Tiger, were curious and concerned as to how the fans would react to his return, it seems they have welcomed him with open arms. Many said what happened off of the course is his personal business. They are just happy to see him back in action.

Even Tiger Woods said he was shocked by the response. Tiger said it was “incredible” and that it “blew me away.”

Now Tiger has to perform to keep those fans on his side.

Wizard World Toronto Comic Con

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

By: Pop Culture guest columnist

saw_puppet     After many years of running their comic cons all over the U.S., Wizard has finally brought their show to Toronto.  Really the title comic con is misleading, as these shows are turning more and more into a pop culture showcase than just a comic book convention.  Like usual they’ve brought not only top comic book artists and writers like Gail Simone, Phil Jimenez, and Dale Keown, but also television and movie stars.  At any time you could run into stars like Jewel Staite (Firefly, Serenity), Gil Gerard and Erin Gray (both of Buck Rogers fame), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters, The Crow), or Christopher Knight (Peter from the Brady Bunch) and his wife Adrianne Curry (America’s Next Top Model).  This show also showcased a wide variety of wrestlers from years past (Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Demolition, Jimmy Superfly Snuka) , and even a few still currently active ones (Kevin Nash, Taylor Wilde).  Unfortunately during my trip to Friday’s show most of the reality tv stars Wizard brought up to visit us were absent.  Tara-Jean Popowich and Vincent Desjarins of So You Think You Can Dance Canada were the only two present on this day, and the rest such as Jonny Fairplay of Survivor, and Megan and Cheyne of the Amazing Race were scheduled for the rest of the weekend when I won’t be there.  One of the major events this weekend was the display of Props from the Saw franchise of movies, as well as a panel Q&A session with Costas Mandylor and Betsy Russell (two of the stars) as well as several members of the crew.  This was one of the most entertaining aspects of the day, and even if you don’t like this series of movies it’s always interesting to hear movie people talk about movies.  I’m even more curious now what Saw 7 will be like in 3-D when it’s released this fall.

wizard_world_torontoOverall I was kind of disappointed at the showing of this convention.  I’ve been to this show in Chicago before, and it’s always crowded.  This show however was fairly dead, and I hope it picks up over the weekend for them so they will bring it back next year.  I was also disappointed by the low number of panels they ran.  In Chicago there were always many different panels to choose from, on a wide variety of topics, and here there were only a couple that held a very slight interest for me.  It’s always disappointing as well when the major comic book labels don’t bother to bring a booth up to Canada so aspiring artists and writers can try to sell themselves.  Like usual however the people attending dressed up in costumes didn’t fail to disappoint, and the costume contest that will be held on Saturday will be just as entertaining.  The live wrestling that was on display constantly by young up and coming wrestlers was also unique, and could grow in future years.  Maybe Wizard was just gauging how well they could do up here, and if this weekend is a success maybe next year they’ll try making this show bigger and better.

The next big show is the Fan Expo in August at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.  Not only is this show usually larger than this one was, but it’s more centrally located, and they’ve all ready announced that they’ve got comic book legend Stan Lee coming.  Competition is a great thing, and I think the show in August may just blow everyone away this year.

Octomom Could be Homeless

Friday, March 19th, 2010

TMZ is reporting that Octomom Nadya Suleman is in serious danger of losing her home. Suleman has until the end of business on Tuesday to either pay more than $450,000 for her house or she’ll be on the receiving end of a foreclosure lawsuit.

Suleman bought the La Habra, CA house with her father in March, 2009. She and her father were required to make monthly payments of $4,139 for one year. On March 10, 2010, a balloon payment of $450,000 was due. The bill is still outstanding. If payment isn’t received by Tuesday, Suleman and her 14 children will need to find another place to live.

Suleman has been open about her need for cash and her recent “jobs” have included a documentary for British television and a weight loss stint sponsored by Star Magazine.
