Celebrities Who Turned Down Dancing With The Stars

September 3rd, 2010

dancingwiththestarsOkay, so we’ve had a few days to digest the latest cast of Dancing With The Stars, and all ready critics and fans are saying it’s going to be a showdown between Brandi and Jennifer Grey. Could it have been different though? Of course. ABC asks many different celebrities to be on the show. We all ready know that Kirstie Alley turned them down, but who else is in the list?

The Hollywood Reporter got a list of celebrities ABC wanted, and they include:   Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg, Sylvester Stallone, political commentator Ann Coulter, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Erin Brockovich (the real one, not Julia Roberts), billionaire Richard Branson, Tim Allen and Suzanne Somers.

Could any of those celebrities compete with Brandi or Jennifer Grey?  Possibly.  Sylvester Stallone is talented in many different areas, and has shown his fancy footwork in 6 Rocky movies.  Richard Branson could buy a dance instructor.  We’ll unfortunately never know though.

Paris Hilton Tweets Chanel Bag Picture

September 3rd, 2010

paris hilton chanel bag arrested celebrity newsParis Hilton could be in hot water in court for her drug charges if the judges in her case follows her on Twitter.

In case you haven’t heard, Paris was charged with felony drug possession after police allegedly found cocaine, marijuana and more in her purse last weekend. But Paris Hilton claimed that the Chanel bag wasn’t hers.

Maybe she forgot that a few months ago Paris tweeted a picture of her brand new Chanel bag that looks awfully similar to the one she was holding when the cops stopped her. Paris tweeted: Love my new Chanel purse I got today. Oops!

Could it be a coincidence? Sure, lots of people own Chanel purses. Is it too perfect that someone would swap the same bag with her that happened to be holding drugs? We will have to wait to see what the court decides.

If she’s found guilty Paris could spend up to 4 years in jail. This isn’t the first time the police have found drugs on Ms. Hilton, so we don’t think they will go easy on her.

Movies Opening September 3rd, 2010

September 2nd, 2010

Going_the_distance_2010_posterSeptember is the month where Hollywood brings out the movies they are not quite sure what to do with.  Much like January a lot of duds are sure to jump out, but every so often there is a hit amongst them.

One of the possible hits this week is the long awaited Machete.  This movie has been classified as ‘in production’ ever since the fake preview for it was created for the Rodriguez/Tarantino double feature Grindhouse back in 2007.  For the longest time it didn’t look like it would be made, but then last summer the cameras started rolling on this movie about an ex-Federale out for revenge.  It stars Danny Trejo in the lead role (his first after playing many tough guys in close to 200 movies) and co-stars Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez, Don Johnson, Lindsay Lohan, and Cheech Marin.  The movie looks over the top in both gore and action, but it’s sure to be a cult classic for years to come.

Going The Distance are for those looking for a little romance on the big screen this weekend.  On again and off again couple Justin Long and Drew Barrymore star in this long distance relationship comedy about a couple who travel back and forth from Chicago to Los Angeles to see one another.  This movie has been delayed a few times, including from last weekend, so it’s not looking very polished.

The final movie coming out this weekend is George Clooney’s new thriller The American.  The plot is simple, an assassin is hiding out in a small Italian village waiting to receive word on what his last assignment will be.  During the time there he becomes friends with a local priest and falls in love with a local woman.  Roger Ebert gives it four stars, and many other critics are calling it one of the years best.  The only problem is that this movie hasn’t received a lot of media attention and may end up getting ignored by most people this weekend.

T.I. and Wife Arrested for Drug Possession

September 2nd, 2010

Various news outlets are reporting today that best selling rapper and actor T.I. and his wife, reality star Tameka “Tiny” Cottle were arrested for possession of a controlled substance in Hollywood last night.

TMZ broke the story reporting that L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over the multi-platinum selling rapper and his wife in a Maybach on Sunset Boulevard around 10:18PM. When searching the vehicle, cops found a controlled substance. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the controlled substance was not cocaine, but rather the class of controlled substance that triggered the arrest included methamphetamines and ecstasy.

This new arrest comes at a bad time for the rapper. He’s currently on probation after serving nine months in prison on federal weapons charges. Ironically, he recently told CNN’s Larry King that he was ready to break free of his troubled past. “Well, I’m just ready to put the bad things behind me and look forward to the future and, you know, just move forward and evolve — continue to evolve.”

Both T.I. and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle posted bail early this morning.

So You Think You Can Dance Canada Elimination Episode Recap – Bree and Yonni Are Eliminated

August 31st, 2010

On this second elimination episode of So You Think You Can Dance Canada ( SYTYCDC) dancers Bree Wasylenko and Yonni Fournier are eliminated. Now the dancers are down to 18.  Last night’s top 20 performances were incredible, we think this is the best dancer talent pool yet on the show. Season 3 of So You Think You Can Dance Canada is definitely kicking it up a notch.

Last night at the top 20 performance show , one of the most memorable performances was Charlene and Jeff’s hauntingly moving performance choreographed by Stacey Tookey. The emotional contemporary routine was based on a letter about a woman’s fight with depression and how her daughter helped her through it. Judge Tre Armstong said she had goose bumps after watching the show.

We also loved Julia and Jesse’s samba. Julia is such a gorgeous ballroom dancer, she nails it every time! Another favorite performance was a contemporary routine by the super hot Denys and his talented partner Amanda.

In tonights elimination show, all 6 of the above dancers were safe but Claudia, Kirsten, Bree, Yonni,Gerra and Edgar had to dance for their lives. In the end someone has to go or else there can’t be a show. And this time it was Bree’s and Yonni’s turn.

See all the performances on CTV’s site here.

Lindsay Lohan Claims She Was Never Addicted To Drugs Or Alcohol

August 31st, 2010

lindsay-lohan-21In a new interview with Vanity Fair magazine actress Lindsay Lohan claims that she was never addicted to drugs or Alcohol.  She tells the magazine that “If I were the alcoholic everyone says I am, then putting a (SCRAM) bracelet on would have ended me up in detox, in the emergency room, because I would have had to come down from all the things that people say I’m taking.  I’ve never abused prescription drugs. I never have – never in my life. I have no desire to. That’s not who I am.  I’ve admitted to the things that I’ve done – to, you know, dabbling in certain things and trying things ’cause I was young and curious and thought it was like, OK, ’cause other people were doing it and other people put it in front of me. And I see what happened in my life because of it.”

She admits to misbehaving, and that a the reason for her downfall was being young and wealthy in Hollywood, with no one to stop her.

Hopefully her stint in prison and rehab has helped her get her head screwed on right.  She claims that she wants her career back.

“I don’t care what anyone says,” Lohan tells the magazine.  ”I know that I’m a damn good actress… And I know that in my past I was young and irresponsible – but that’s what growing up is. You learn from your mistakes.”

Dancing With The Stars Season 11 Cast Announced

August 31st, 2010

dancingwiththestarsWith each season Dancing With the Stars has brought its own level of entertainment, not just for the fancy footwork and gorgeous outfits, but also for the celebrities that get chosen to perform.  When ABC announced the cast for their upcoming 11th season yesterday they didn’t fail to disappoint with the wide range of new comers.

We’ve got musician Michael Bolton.  He’s sold more than 53 million albums, and now he’s going to show off his dance moves.  Thankfully his trademark long hair is long gone.

Another musician is also in the latest batch of contestants, and her name is Brandi.  She sings, she acts, she produces, and now we’ll see if she can dance.

Margaret Cho is known for her comedic style, but will she be able to dance?  At the very least this should be good for a laugh.

He’s won three NBA titles with the Los Angeles Lakers, but Rick Fox is also an actor / producer.  It’ll be interesting to see how his fancy footwork on the courts translate to the dancefloor.

Jennifer Grey has shown us that she can bring it on the screen.  After all she’s the star of one of the most beloved dance movies of all time.  Of all the new competitors this dirty dancer is definitely one to watch.

He’s know for his acting (if you can call it that) on Baywatch and Knight Rider in North America, but in Germany David Hasselhoff is a huge rock star.  The question of course is can he dance.

Florence Henderson will always be known as the mom on The Brady Bunch, but she’s also been a recording artist, a broadway performer, and an author.  Now she’s taking it up a notch and showing America whether or not she can dance as well.

Kyle Orlando Massey is the baby of the bunch.  He was the star of That’s So Raven, and its spin off Cory In The House.  Will youth prevail?  Only time will tell.

When her mother entered the spotlight during the 2008 presidential campaign Bristol Palin probably never imaged how much of the spotlight would fall on her.  Now she’s paving her own path with dancing shoes.

From The Hills to Dancing With the Stars, Audrina Patridge is sure to remain one of the brightest young talents in television even if she can’t dance.

When you call yourself The Situation you’ve got to have something of an ego, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino doesn’t disappoint.  He’s sure to add to his reputation that he’s been building on Jersey Shore.

And finally we come to Kurt Warner, Superbowl hero, and first ever quarterback to perform on Dancing With the Stars.  Can he lead another team to victory?

Paris Hilton Charged With Drug Possession

August 30th, 2010

SPL205853_001We told you earlier about Paris Hilton’s arrest over the weekend, and now it doesn’t come as a huge surprise that she was charged today with felony drug possession.  According to People.com Paris had “8 grams of cocaine, cigarette wrappers commonly used for marijuana and a broken tablet of Albuterol” when she was pulled over because the officer smelled marijuana coming from her vehicle.   The charge carried a maximum sentence of 4 years in jail.

This is the third drug incident Hilton has faced this year.  In July she was held by police on the French island of Corsica, and earlier in South Africa during the World Cup.  This of course isn’t Paris’ first brush with the law, as it was three years ago that she spent time in jail for violating her parole.

2010 Emmy Award Winners and Snubs

August 30th, 2010

Anna PaquinThis years Emmy’s brought out the Glee in us all, well except those who are Lost fans.  Lost was shut out of the major awards last night losing the Best Actor and Best  Supporting Actor awards to Breaking Bad (Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul respectively), and losing out on the Best Dramatic Series Award to Mad Men.

Edie Falco won the award for Best Comedic Actress for Nurse Jackie, and made history in the process.  Never before had an actress won the Emmy for Best Comedic Actress and Best Dramatic Actress.  She won the latter for The Soprano’s a couple of years back.

Other major award winners included Modern Family for Best Comedy, Kyra Sedgwick for Best Dramatic Actress for her role in The Closer, Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory won for Best Comedic Actor, Archie Panjabi of The Good Wife won Best Supporting Dramatic Actress, Supporting Actor for Comedy went to Eric Stonestreet of Modern Family, and Jane Lynch won for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Glee.

The host of the show Jimmy Fallon did a great job, including a great opening number with the cast of Glee.  Like usual the fashion of the red carpet took center stage, and the stars didn’t fail to impress.

2010 Emmy’s Opens With Glee Inspired Musical

August 29th, 2010

EmmyAwardIn one of the funnier moments on recent television Jimmy Fallon opened the 62nd annual Emmy’s with the cast of Glee doing a rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s Born To Run.  Glee stars Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Corey Monteith and Amber Riley join Fallon, Tina Fey, Jon Hamm and Joel McHale.  Along the way they try to recruit ‘Mad Men’ star Jon Hamm, but he’s busy getting sexy dance lessons with Betty White.  Kate Gosselin is rejected even though she tells them that she can dance and is wearing her infamous Dancing With the Stars outfit.

It was definitely a great start to the show and hopefully more laughs come along the way.

What’s Going On With Paris Hilton?

August 29th, 2010

SPL205853_001By now you probably have read that Paris Hilton has once again been arrested. This time for cocaine possession which she claims wasn’t hers. Last time she was arrested for Marijuana use at FIFA and once again she said it wasn’t hers ( and got out of charge). Paris Hilton has already served time in jail in 2007 for drunk driving.

So back to our question. What’s going on with Paris Hilton? At 29 is she too old to be acting like a teenager and getting busted for drugs and drinking or is this just the beginning of a whole bad news trend for her?

Interestingly while Paris seemed to be the talk of the town  a few years back, very little positive news has been heard about her. Other IT girls, known for being reality stars and nothing much else have taken the spotlight. Kim Kardashian and her sisters for example.

Nicole Richie, her one time reality co-star and best friend and then enemy and then friend, seemed to have become a respectable mother of two and a noted fashion designer. In the meantime Paris Hilton’s own line of shoes and clothes seems to have faded in the background. Her who wants to be Paris Hilton’s My New BFF show  fizzled as well, with the so called best friend not working out ( surprise, surprise).

Is Paris Hilton just a has been at this point? Who knows, maybe she will stage a brilliant come back, but in the meantime these arrests are sure not helping her!
