Met Gala 2018 Best Dressed Celebrities

With last night marking the 2018 Met Gala, a number of gorgeous celebrities descended upon the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The 72nd annual fashion gala, which is led by Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, featured a theme of “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” Paying tribute to elaborate costumes inspired by Catholicism, the star-studded red carpet featured everything from flowing white gowns to embellished headwear. Here’s a closer look at the best dressed celebrities from the evening.

Blake Lively

Without a doubt, the 30-year-old actress was the ultimate bombshell in a stunning burgundy gown created by Atelier Versace. The floor-length, dramatic creation featured a long train, sheer panels and shimmering golden embroidered detail. With its crystal embellishment and scoop neck, this metallic and deep red frock was a statement look. To emphasize her superstar look for the evening, Lively accessorized with a spiky golden tiara headpiece and dangling bejewelled earrings.

Rita Ora

The 27-year-old British songstress wore a black Prada number, which highlighted her evolving and maturing style. Ora’s outfit of the night featured an airy, sheer hem, illusion V-neckline and a vibrant flowery print. She wrapped up her Met Gala ensemble with a pair of elegant, long black gloves, a contrasting neon yellow micro handbag and an eye-catching black headpiece.

Rihanna

Although her most recent sartorial looks have been debatable and edgy, Rihanna delivered an avant garde statement on the Met Gala red carpet. The 30-year-old diva took the Catholic theme to an entirely new level, and was clearly inspired by the Pope by her choice of outfit. Riri arrived  in a beaded and embellished silver Maison Margiela dress, worn with a matching long coat. For a finishing touch, the star added a custom designed oversized, papal-style headpiece and a coordinating necklace.

Dakota Fanning

On the other hand, Dakota Fanning decided to go with a classic and minimalist style for the big evening. Standing in sharp contrast to all the heavy jewelled dresses around her, the 24-year-old actress wore a simple and sweet ivory off-the-shoulder frock by Miu Miu.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

The 31-year-old English supermodel usually makes a statement with her model-off-duty looks, and is known for her casual yet chic silhouettes away from the runway. Last night, the beautiful blonde played up her glamorous side, and wore glimmering gold metallic Ralph Lauren Collection gown with a deep V-neck. The dress was accented with a trailing cape, for a chic effect. We also like Huntington-Whiteley’s gold halo-like hair ornament, which plays up the angelic, glowing nature of her look.
