The iconic brand will officially celebrate their anniversary this week on August 15th with an archive exhibition at their flagship store on Bloor St. The collection of vintage clothing will take you through the decades of Roots fashion with signature pieces like the iconic Awards Jacket and 2004 Olympic poor boy hats.

The all-Canadian brand, inspired by founders Michael Budman and Don Green’s love for the outdoors, was not always the diverse retail store it is today. With shoes at the heart of the brand, they began by selling a mere one product, the negative heel shoe.  In honour of the anniversary, Roots has created a modern version of the original shoe that will be sold this summer for $158. The store has since flourished to include a wide range of leather goods and sweats that have became staples for children at summer camp. They have also received international acclaim for their Olympic gear in both 2002 and 2004.

In honour of the anniversary, Roots worked with Canadian label Smythe to create a limited edition motorcycle jacket for $988 that will be available in Roots stores this September.
