Top 5 Canadian Fashion Designers To Watch
Canada Day is upon us, and did we mention that Canadian fashion rocks? You’ve heard DSquared2, you know Jeremy Laing. Erdem ring a bell? Canada has paved a path for unique and globally loved fashion for years, but this year it’s all going to be about these new-in-town (or new to you) designers. We think household name status is upon them, so don’t miss these future fashion stars as they emerge onto the scene.
1. Dalia MacPhee.
Canadian designer Dalia MacPhee is emerging as one of the go-to designers for Hollywood stars to find one of a kind gowns for any type of event. Stars of Vampire Diaries, Big Bang Theory, Glee and Dancing With The Stars have been spotted walking the red carpet, skipping across a dance floor and singing a ballad in Dalia MacPhee gowns and cocktail dresses.
This line designed by Shawna Robinson and Natalie Sydoruk is all made in Toronto. With a knack for the perfect pieces for an everyday wardrobe, with a statement, this is the kind of line we’d love to see make it bigger and bigger.
Not that new on the fashion scene, but certainly due for a big blow up, Toronto based design team Comrags is all about chic relaxed style, and designers Joyce Gunhouse and Judy Cornish always know just what is needed to make simple style seem brand new.

4. Nicole Bridger.
While the whole world seems to be on a green kick, making real eco change starts at home, and Nicole Bridger’s eco-conscious designs bridge the gap between style and being earth friendly though her chic eye for detail. This is the time to start thinking about how your fashion choices affect our earth, and we see a real shift toward green fashion taking shape.
5. Chloe Comme Paris.
So 2011 and 2012 were supposed to be the years of Chloe and Paris Gordon, who are both design duo and sisters. But who says 2013 can’t just keep growing on that attention? We think this is their time, and are sure you’ll see the two emerge as famous faces in the very near future.
