The New White Jumpsuit Is Surprisingly Sophisticated
Seeing white is nothing new as spring fashion starts to pop into our dreams, as the pale hue has been around all winter in some of the richest looks of the season. Now, though, white is as sleek as ever as celebrities catch on that a jumpsuit in white is white done right. Jaime King’s Elie Saab version stood out in the fashionable crowd at Nylon magazine’s recent launch of its Selena Gomez cover.
Jump On Board
Jumpsuits for this season range from the tailored and chic, to loose and luxe, to bold and embellished. While we prefer a minimalist take on the look (white+one-piece is a lot of look on its own), the runways gave us this melange of takes on the trend. From a high-neck belted Catharine Malandrino jumpsuit, to simple comfort at See By Chloe, we can see how the many incarnations of the pure white jumpsuit will catch on this season.
How To Wear
The right event is key if you’ll be trying out this trend. We see a tailored white jumpsuit like Jaime’s as a stand-in for a cocktail dress when one dares to be different. So instead of an LBD, take the risk with a WJS. Metallic accessories or a bold lip like Jaime’s keep the trend modern. Most importantly–focus on fit. No part of your jumpsuit should be form-fitting, so go for either structured and sleek, or loose and drapey.
