Designer Picks: Marie Saint Pierre’s Cold Weather Fashion Advice
If you are looking to make a statement this fall, look no further than Marie Saint Pierre’s edgy collection. This Montreal designer is known for her statement pieces and avante guard style. For our Designer Picks series, we have once again turned to Marie for her take on which trends she is loving this season and her picks for fall, so that we can stay on the cutting edge of style too.
What are your three fall essential must-haves for women this fall and why?
– A well cut dress-coat. Personally, I love the versatility of this item. It is a Marie Saint Pierre “MUST-HAVE” for this season.
– Opting for sophisticated alternative, replace classic black with midnight blue.
-Finally, a long and loose geometric dress, for a comfortable yet edgy look.
What are you favorite trends this season and why?
As a designer, I do not focus on trend but bold accessories are definitely statement pieces. Accent of washed out colours are great to show your individuality.
What are your favorite fall accessories and why?
– Again a bold necklace
– A nice pair of masculine shoes
– A fur piece
– Long leather gloves
What are some of the biggest style mistakes women make in the fall?
– Buying a coat or a jacket that doesn’t fit properly
How do you define the look and feel of your fall collection?
Modern and spirited, I revisited my inspirations through hybrid pieces, thus transforming the creations. Both the clothing and accessories from the collection showcase moulded work where pleating, gathering, and the mix of materials give them new dimension. Finding the right balance between tangible and ephemeral, fantasy and function, and beauty and intelligence is the premise behind my Fall/Winter 2012 collection.
