Designer Picks: Joeffer Caoc’s Favourite Fall 2012 Fashion
From Nelly Furtado to supermodels Coco Rocha and Daria Werbowy, some of the world’s biggest stars love to pay homage to their Canadian roots by wearing clothes designed by Toronto’s very own Joeffer Caoc. Although he was born in the Philippines, Caoc was raised in Canada and launched his label here in 1995. Known for his classic tailoring and architectural detailing, Caoc brings his meticulous approach to fashion to everything from day-wear separates to cocktail dresses and gowns. We recently had the chance to catch up with Caoc to find out his best fashion advice for women for the fall of 2012.
What are your three fall essential must-haves for women this fall and why?
A Coat in colour: shake away the winter blahs with a happy, unpredictable colour.
Anything with leather: luxury should be worn all the time .
A day-to-night dress: it’s perfect for a Friday (or any day for that matter) to go out straight from the office. Take off the blazer and pair with a great pair of heels.
What are your favourite trends this season ?
Patch-working different fabrics and textures together gives a garment a fresh new look, i.e. leather and knit, organza and metallic.
What are your favourite fall accessories?
A wide waist belt with great details such as studs – it’s all you need. You can wear it over a coat, a blazer, a dress, skirt, etc, to give it an updated look.
What are some of the biggest style mistakes women make in the fall?
Following trends that don’t suit their personal comfort level. It’s a new era in fashion – there are no rules.
How do you define the look and feel of your fall collection?
The fall 2012 collection was all about a woman with a rock ‘n roll past.
