Watch The Blade Runner 2049 Teaser Trailer
One of 2017’s most anticipated movies is the sequel to the 1982 science fiction cult classic Blade Runner. There had been a lot of speculation on how the movie will look and what it will be about, and yesterday Warner Bros. gave fans a taste of what to expect when they released a short, under two minutes long teaser trailer.
Blade Runner 2049 is set to released on October 6th of next year, and by the looks of the teaser trailer it’s going to be as visually stunning as its predecessor. The trailer shows Ryan Gosling’s character walking through a bleak landscape, including a very forbidding Los Angeles, searching for something, and by the end of the trailer who find out that he’s been looking for Rick Deckard, the long missing Blade Runner played in the original film by Harrison Ford. By the looks of things however, Deckard doesn’t want to be found, as is apparent by him pulling a gun on his predecessor.
Ford narrates the trailer, stating “Replicants are like any other machine — they’re either a benefit or a hazard. If they’re a benefit, it’s not my problem.” Later on when he faces Gosling Ford states “I did your job once. I was good at it.” Gosling responds “Things were simpler then,” before the trailer ends.
If anything the teaser makes Blade Runner 2049 even more anticipated. Denis Villeneuve directs the film, and by the sounds of things he’s trying to make the film as close visually to the original as possible. Ridley Scott, the director of the original film, returns as a producer this time around. The plot has been kept fairly secret, but Alcon Entertainment has released the following. “Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”
Blade Runner 2049 stars Gosling and Ford, as well as Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.
