Laura Vandervoort To Star As Werewolf In New Show Bitten – From Supergirl to Supernatural
When we spoke to Toronto-born actress Laura Vandervoort (Smallville, Ted) at the Canadian Screen Awards last week, she told us she had a very special project on the horizon that she couldn’t talk about, and now we know what it is. Vandervoort will star as the world’s only female werewolf on the new Space series, Bitten. That’s right, Joe Manganiello and Taylor Lautner. The wolf pack in Hollywood needs to make room for a beautiful Canadian blonde.
Playing a supernatural creature is familiar territory for Vandervoort. She’s best known for playing Supergirl on Smallville and for portraying Lisa, a member of the “Visitor” species, on V.
In Bitten, which will begin shooting in Toronto next month, Vandervoort will play Elena Michaels, a woman who unknowingly became a werewolf after being bitten by an old flame. Although she works as a photographer by day in Toronto, Elena begins to divide her time between Canada and Stonehaven, New York, where the werewolf pack is based, after the pack becomes threatened by an unknown predator. We’re guessing Elena tranforms into a werewolf before she hits the border to avoid the hassle of waiting in lines and remembering her passport. We love that the show is not only set mainly in Canada, but that Elena will be a Canadian werewolf. Bitten is based on the Women of the Otherworld novels, written by Canadian author Kelley Armstrong.
