California-based Hudson Jeans have become known for their mix of American comfort and rocker-inspired British style since launching in 2002. After getting a peek at their fall 2013 collection, you should be excited to get your hand on the upcoming offerings from Hudson including their leather panel details, distressed denim, and unique patterns.

With a variety of fits and textures and a modern take on vintage, Hudson seems to be ahead of the curve for denim trends. Featuring Georgia May Jagger as the face of their women’s line,Hudson’s fall collection is set to impress both fashionistas and rebels.

The collection includes a pale purple jean jacket with a delicate all over print in a return to laidback vintage-style outerwear. As well, the jeans themselves vary from denim tuxedo pants with leather touches to faded washes with strategic rips.

Colour is the key- denim has made the switch to colourful and bold the past couple seasons, and fall pieces promise to be a splash of colour paired with classic dark washes and greys. Textures range from the smooth and casual to shiny, skintight waxed denim.

We especially loved the splatter effect Brit Punk jeans with their incredible streaks of red, blue and white! With styles including the indigo-blue and skinny Foleys, distressed grey New Romantics, and funky blue-trimmed Cadet & Libertine Piping jeans, it seems Hudson plans to keep the world of jeans surprising, varied, and versatile this fall.

Skip the basic black bathing suit in favour of a brighter shade. Brit told us that, “People aren’t going for black as much. My clients are picking mint green and cantelope and paprika. So brighter a little more daring colours [are on trend].”

Add some bling to that swimsuit this season with a few embellishments. Brit said, “We are bringing in rocks into our swimsuits. We are actually doing the hip with little pieces of rock details. We are getting a lot of requests for that.”

Two-Piece or One Piece

Brit says that both styles are on trend, so don’t worry if you want more or less. She said, “It’s more about who they are going on vacation with. If they are going with their fiancée or husband they are more willing to get a two piece. If they are going with kids and the mother in law, they want a one piece. It more depends on the situation. I get a lot of requests for one pieces. I would say it’s 50/50. You never know when you want to be a little bit more conservative and comfortable with the company you are with.”

High waisted bikinis are making a comeback this summer. This bikini should only be worn by taller ladies though. Brit B says, “If you are shorter the more you cover up in the torso and the leg line, it really cuts you off. Your legs aren’t elongated and your torso looks even shorter. It doesn’t open up the eye to the lines in your body.”

No curves? No problem. Brit B has the perfect solution for those looking to get a fuller figure. She says “If you have more of a boyish figure and not too curvy our monokini that has curves in it. It’s a one piece but it has a cutout in the front. I have a lot of women who come in who are flat chested and not curvy at all. If you put them in that with a couple of push up pads and a ruched butt it gives curves wherever we possibly can.”

What she does do, though, is set trends every time she changes her socks. From glamour goddess, to tough and edgy rocker, to pared down tomboy in snapbacks and sneakers, Rihanna takes chances, loves high fashion, and we all continue to ogle her.

4. Katy Perry. This once bubblegum candy cupcake costume-clad popstress has evolved into a darker, more artistic look lately, but nobody can forget her most ridiculous ensembles so it’s hard to imagine her as a serious sophisticate. The right way to stand out in people’s minds when it comes to fashion is to be memorable, though, so Katy has locked down the title of musical style maven #4 easily.

5. Madonna. Finally, Madge. Though she isn’t setting trends like rapid fire (anymore) like our other picks, leaving Madonna out of the list would be tragic and we just couldn’t do it. This crowning achiever of unpredictable, rebellious fashion has a big night at the Billboard Awards coming up, and we’re hopeful she’ll take us back to the shock-and-awe days when it comes to her style, if just for one more night!

Star Trek Into Fashion

Star of Star Trek: Into Darkness Zoe Saldana is one of a handful of actresses we drool over fashion-wise. She doesn’t shy away from the avant garde or unique, but always maintains sex appeal and sophistication with her ever-changing look. How does she do it? With looks like this crop top and pleated skirt ensemble she wore recently for a Star Trek: Into Darkness premiere, that’s how.

Spring Trend

With last spring and summer really bringing out the crunches and sit-ups worldwide to allow those who dared to bare midriff in crop tops, we weren’t surprised the trend returned this season. However, designers showed coordinating crop top and high waist skirt pairings, with skirts staying full and tops remaining modest on top for a look that’s surprisingly polished and not at all cheap.

How To Wear It

Zoe is the perfect poster child for the ideal way to bare a sliver of tummy and still look classy and fashion forward. Choose a crop top that’s less like a bra and more like a vest or blouse as she has done, and pair with a full high-waist A-line skirt. This keeps the look retro and feminine. Or, top your entire look with a blazer or jacket as seen at Ruffian. Finally, to take another classy spin on a crop, bare the skin through sheer material instead of complete bareness.

Rihanna

From street wear to red carpet, this songstress definitely knows how to make up her own trends.  Unfortunately Rihanna didn’t attend the Billboard Awards last year, but this year we predict she will go in with a bang. For the 2011 white carpet she decided to tone it down by wearing an all white suit and making her hair, that was at that time red, stand out. This year we would love to see Rihanna rocking a Balmain design. She always does the unexpected. This pattern suit is edgy yet screams Rihanna. We wouldn’t be surprised if she went bare underneath and topped it off with a red lip.

Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera loves to experiment with her look. She always pushes the boundaries when it comes to fashion. From pinup girl to Hollywood glam we predict this pop queen with hit us with the unexpected this year, especially since she is performing. We hope to see this talented songstress in a colourful Badgley Mischka gown to bring out her beautiful blue eyes and gorgeous blonde locks. Christina Aguilera is all about showing off her curves so we will be keeping an eye for that on the white carpet.

Jennifer Lopez

Ms. Lopez is known for her curvaceous body and flaunting her best assets on the carpet. She always makes heads turn. This year we predict with the many Zuhair Murad dresses she has worn on others carpets in the past that she may wear one of the designer’s gowns to this big occasion. Jennifer Lopez is a huge fan of neutrals and loves slits or trains on gowns to show off her legs, so this dress is perfect.

Selena Gomez

From young starlet matured into a beautiful woman, Gomez’ style has definitely evolved. Selena Gomez’s look gets sexier and sexier on red carpets. In 2011, Gomez opted for a plain black cutout dress and straight hair. This year we predict that Gomez will stay within the darker colour palette to show her sophistication and glamour.

Taylor Swift

This beauty always looks stunning on the red carpet, so we expect nothing but the best from Taylor Swift. Swift tends to go for darker colour gowns to make her hair and gorgeous eyes stand out. J. Mendel seems to be Taylor Swift’s go-to designer wearing the designer’s gowns on other occasions. We predict that she will wear a darker coloured gown with feminine details.

Nina Dobrev hit the CW Upfronts this week with her co-star and ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder. What better way to make your ex remember what he is missing than to brighten up the event in a sleek and sexy blue Versace dress? Nina Dobrev did just that in this little sleek sheath dress.

The semi-casual look was perfect for the low key event. The beaded belt gave it just the right amount of bling.

Nina Dobrev kept the styling just as simple and easy with natural hair, but did splurge on a pair of python pumps to seal the deal.

2. Pirates Of The Caribbean. As Anamaria in Pirates Of The Caribbean: Curse Of The Black Pearl, Zoe showed she can look good in pretty much anything, even rags, buckles, dirt and danger. Or maybe especially those!

5. Star Trek. Finally, as Uhura in Star Trek and again in the upcoming Into Darkness follow-up, Zoe shows that she is one futuristically gorgeous star no matter the out there hair, costume or makeup she is put into. For this, we salute her and her unique way of pulling off just about anything!

Vibrant shades will be popular, with jackets and coats taking a break from the typical neutrals and dark colours of seasons past. This three-quarter length coat in a vivid cherry red is an example of the movement toward brights in an effort to keep a traditional material like leather feeling new. With a removable neckline, this burgundy leather-trim dress is great for bridging the gap between the office and a night out.

Danier is also releasing a new line of handbags in the $129-$149 price range. Cobalt blue is predicted to be popular, along with violet and cherry red once again (not surprising once the gorgeous colours of the bags are taken into account!)

Trek On Trend

Wait one hot second. Is it just us, or did the big release of Star Trek: Into Darkness have something to do with these designers’ futuristic runway looks? Spring fashion this year was full of slick, sleek and pared down, but these looks are bold and out of this world. We have to wonder whether Star Trek inspired their takes on silver, metallics, shine and super-spacey textures.

Starry Style

While Zoe Saldana may play the lead female role of Uhura in Into Darkness, it can be any of us playing the Star Trek role in our fashionable daily (or evening) lives. Simply take cues from these looks we loved for spring. Designers Milly, Alexander Wang and Rodarte all went ultra-fantasy on us for spring with their collections blending mirrored, silver, black and white with hi-shine and translucent accents.

How To Wear It

Take futurism back to the present and wear these runway trends the real way, by opting for accessories that are mirrored, sleek silver accents on heels, see-through blocked shoes and mesh inserts on sporty chic clothing. By adding just a touch of odyssey to an outfit, you’ll be so modern we’ll think you’ve struck outer space.
