Stripped Down
From vertical, to horizontal, to a mix of both, jailhouse style has never looked so good. While designers like Marc Jacobs, Acne and Dolce & Gabbana all showed takes on the black and white striped trend for spring 2013, stars like Chloe Grace Moretz know how to make the classic stripe wearable and fun.
Art Of Contrast
Black and white in blocking, stripes, prints and checkers made the biggest sartorial impact of any trend on runways for the spring 2013 fashion season, and we’ve been loving the graphic spin on the combo. Straight up and down (slimming!) like at Acne and Marc Jacobs, or head-to-toe with some horizontal mixed in, make for a hard-hitting outfit without a hint of colour.
How To Wear
Want to wear this trend with ease? We suggest opting for the vertical stripes for the most figure flattering, modern take on the look. That may be harder to find in your favourite retail store, though, so don’t fear if only horizontals are on your horizon. We love a chic black and white striped pencil skirt paired with a top in a smaller stripe, polka-dot or floral print. It is all about mixing up the trend and veering far from the obvious, so don’t go with a black or white top and you’ll be unique and effortless.
