This is how you know you’ve got a fashion forward colour on hand — when style icon Alexa Chung sports the unexpected winter hue to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund dinner. In a runway sea of black, bordeaux, wine and other deep hues, frosty pastel blue stood out as one of our most-wanted shades to wear this season, and we love the twist Alexa takes on the pretty colour.
Light As Snow
While we’re admittedly loving the dark drama of this season’s trendy wine and burgundy shades, (plus lots of on-trend inky black) we’ve got to say this pale blue hue was a runway stand-out. In delicious, detailed sheer lace at Emilio Pucci, light blue evoked a delicate snowy morning, sparkling with the essence of icicles. Oscar De La Renta opted to warm up the shiver-inducing hue with head-to-toe baby blue looks in unexpected textures like furs, and on another look, a heavy knit pale blue sweater-coat we loved.
Copy The Trend
For a truly winter wonderland inspired look, go head to toe pale with shades of on-trend wintery white mixed with pale blues. Combine heavier textures with sheer ones, like a light blue cable knit paired with an airy skirt in the hue, or a sheer blouse and velvet or brocade trousers in the same colour family. To inject the colour seamlessly into your current wardrobe, pair one pastel blue piece with black, bordeaux or any neutral look. Finally, to set your very own fashion pace like Alexa Chung, give Oz’s Dorothy a run for her money with white, light blue and pops of ruby red.
