Sense Of Russia
Keira Knightley will not be the only one to evoke Anna Karenina this winter. It seems to us, some of our favourite designers were inspired by the luxury of nineteenth century Russia for their Fall/Winter 2012 collections. Fur muffs and stoles alongside ornate jewelled pieces made a loud statement from fashion houses like Lanvin and Salvatore Ferragamo, and even rang clear from hot designers Jason Wu and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (for Elizabeth & James).
Anna K-Inspired Season
With the blockbuster film set to bring passion, fashion and history together to tell the story of Anna Karenina, we admit we’re most excited for the decadent furs, ornate jewels and timeless glamour of late nineteenth-century high society Russia. While retailer Banana Republic took a literal page out of Anna Karenina’s book of style with their Anna Karenina Collection, there’s no doubt in our minds the era (and perhaps even the movie) inspired this season’s opulent trends.
Copy The Look
We’ve already unknowingly injected some of Anna Karenina’s high class finery into our winter look with huge, ornate statement necklaces, embellished and brocade textures, and fur accents like collars and hats. Choose just one or two of these pieces to wear with your favourite fall and winter staples, and a regal, tailored coat, and you’ll be as dramatic and fashion forward as Keira’s eyebrow-raising character.
