To celebrate Aldo’s 40th anniversary, the Canadian shoe company created these gorgeous limited edition high heels inspired by Dorothy’s ruby slippers in The Wizard of Oz. With 5000 crystals on each pair, it’s no wonder Aldo only created 100 pairs of this amazing collector’s item. Aldo gave a few pairs away to celebrity fans of the brand, but the rest of us still have a chance to win a set of these coveted heels by entering in Aldo’s “Paint the Town Red” contest.

We think these shoes are right on the mark when it comes to anticipated the hottest trends of 2013. Pop culture always plays a huge role in fashion trends. Just think of what Anna Karenina influenced for Fall/Winter 2012! We predict a serious Wizard of Oz influence in spring 2013, thanks to the upcoming March premiere of Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful. A while back we showed you a sneak peek at some of the looks from the film in our post First Look At Michelle Williams As Glinda, The Good Witch in Oz: The Great and Powerful. We have a feeling Spring 2012 is going to have a Wizard of Haute Couture theme!
