It always seems that the trends we loved most on the runways are the hardest to incorporate into our daily lives. You may have loved the idea of them, but contemplating heading to work or for cocktails in the looks makes most of us trepidatious. This season, that trend was wearing white in fall. Designers like BCBG Max Azria, 3.1 Phillip Lim and many others showed looks that were often head-to-toe white but remained remarkably luxe, plush and autumn appropriate.
Touches Of Warmth
Since it’s doubtful you’ll be showing much skin with your autumn white look, it’s actually not that difficult to spin it into an anything-but-summer look. The trend is all about tailored winter-white pieces combined with edgy and textural add-ons like black leather and fur accents (which were another one of our favourite fantasy trends for fall).
How To Do White Right
Style icons and celebs alike have been stepping out in the all-white (or cream, ivory or winter-white) suit. Start with a luxe long blazer in a heavy but streamlined fabric like our Marc By Marc Jacobs one. Your pants need not be the same shade of white- mixing the hues was another modern take on all white looks. Creamy trousers like the Calvin Klein Collection pair seen here are flattering and polished when paired with patent, edgy black heels with cutouts, like this Via Spiga pair. Contrast the lightness of white with a faux fur piece like a cape or stole, and perhaps add a berry or wine lip and your look will make everyone forget that ridiculous Labour Day rule ever existed!
