New York darlings Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler added intrigue to New York Fashion Week yesterday. Here are the latest shows that caught our attention.
Proenza Schouler
Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez took New York by storm yesterday with their collage inspired Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Denim vests, sleeveless dresses and even T-shirts were re-imagined and re-configured with python and iguana patchwork. Hernandez said the collection was inspired by “the Internet, the images you’re bombarded with and the collage of information that you get every day.” Leather played a huge role in the collection from boxy, over-sized jackets to low-slung skirts. We loved the digital print dresses that ended the collection.

Marchesa
Just after news broke that Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig designed Blake Lively’s wedding dress, they got ready to put on their Spring/Summer 2013 show in New York. Inspired by India in the 1960s, the designers’ sari-inspired gown proved why Marchesa is the go-to label for celebs at red carpet events. The Bollywood-esque collection featured a lot of fringe and gold leaf embroidery. We also loved the bejeweled tunic tops paired with crop pants. Celebs like Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Kelly Osbourne and Stacy Kiebler were among the A-list guests at the show.

Elizabeth and James
Katie Holmes wasn’t the only celeb-turned-designer who showed her collection yesterday. Fashion world gems Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen showed their line Elizabeth and James at a gallery in the West Village. The casual-cool Spring/Summer 2013 collection featured many androgynous pieces in blacks, whites and neutrals. Listing sunsets and travel as their inspiration for the collection, Mary-Kate and Ashley designed clothes that every woman will want this spring, from over-sized blazers to sexy trousers.
