Marc Jacobs, 3.1 Phillip Lim & DKNY At New York Fashion Week Spring 2013

Need to catch up on New York Fashion Week? Here are the latest Spring 2013 runway shows that have rocked our world this week!

Marc Jacobs
If Marc Jacobs had you in a polka dot state of mind in 2011, get ready for his striped takeover. Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2013 was remarkably stripped down and full of stripes. There were thick stripes and thin stripes, and black, red, tan and navy stripes. From A-line coats and scallop-edged sundresses to hot pants and shrunken blazers, the collection was a dramatic depature from the over-sized coats and layered looks of his Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. We love Marc Jacobs’ obvious nod to the ’60s and his return to all things sexy.

3.1 Phillip Lim
Phillip Lim was inspired by the Dada-ist art movement from the ’20s for his Spring 2013 collection, which had a “cut it up” vibe. We loved he grunge era feel of the collection, from utility jackets and ripped jeans to rock star-worthy overalls. The collection wasn’t a complete ’90s throwback, despite the prominence of plaid mixed with florals. “It’s about taking what you have in front of you, cutting it up, not throwing anything away and mixing it up again,” Lim explained after the show.

DKNY
Taxi cab yellow was the biggest, boldest colour influence at DKNY. And why not? We think it’s a perfect tribute to New York City! Donna Karan’s sporty yet sexy collection was heavy on spandex and denim, not to mention leather. We are all about DKNY Spring 2013 thin silver sheaths and silver leather jackets. The easy-to-wear collection featured a ton of logo tees, bum bags, body suits and stiletto sneakers that mixed a street smart edge with a sexy vibe.
