Rudsak designer Evik Asatoorian has been making some of the most coveted Canadian outerwear pieces and accessories for almost 2 decades. Sleek, minimalist and tailored to perfection, a Rudsak leather jacket is an essential for any woman (or man’s) wardrobe in the fall. Just ask Maria Menounos. The starlet was seen all over Hollywood rocking her favourite Rudsak leather jacket this year. From boots to bags, there’s nothing Asatoorian can’t do when it comes to leather. We talked to the designer about his fall fashion essentials for women, as well as his fall fashion tips.
What are your three fall essential must-haves for women this fall and why?
A hobo leather bag with unfinished edges, an over the knee concealed wedge boot, and a cropped leather jacket with or without a fur collar. This makes for a posh and unpretentious urban fall impression.
What are you favorite trends this season and why?
Romantic rock with a slight nod to the ‘80’s punk rockabilly. Brings me back to a dominating style, one that set the fashion curve and has proven to be everlasting.
What are your favorite fall accessories and why?
What are some of the biggest style mistakes women make in the fall?
Wearing the wrong shoes or boots. You have to maintain style proportion with what you wear on the outside as much as what you wear under your coat or jacket. Don’t overstock your look. Have the right items to be able to combine them in the right way.
How do you define the look and feel of your fall collection?
Extremely focused, clear picture of who Rudsak is. The look is classic, you would expect that from a luxury product, but with edge…with a pinch of rock. There’s a touch of Canadian heritage in the sense that the collection is well thought out for urban living. There’s a certain dress code that corresponds to the Americas in general. It’s clever, creative, has uncompromised quality, and a crafty feel.
